So I want to put together a new force using my leftover marines from my 30K Ultramarine Project. I have 30 Bolter Choads, and two Rhino kits.

The question I have is, there any support for running loyalist SoH? I have Loken, but what are the good builds for this army?

To be specific, this would be Luna Wolves, lead by Loken. Are there pads or decals for LW?

Have never seen any sold by GW. Have seen 3D printable shoulder pads that bear a resemblance.

The quality of a 3D printer can vary. If you choose to go this route, get them printed in Resin. You might want to set up a rubber mold to clone them yourself, casting them is less expensive than doing pads for 60+ models.

Good luck!

You can do Luna Wolves decals yourself, that is what I do for my loyalist Luna Wolves.

"I was never a Son of Horus. I was and remain a Luna Wolf. A proud son of Cthonia, a loyal servant of the Emperor."

Recasts are like Fight Cub. No one talks about it, but more people do it then you realize.

Hey! Those aren't bad at all.

I'm going through my list of unbuilt 30K stuff, and it looks like I have a lot more MKIII and some MKII. I think I'm going to do the majority of the army in this style, and I got some of the old decals for Luna Wolves via Ebay. Does anyone out there know of any resources that talk about what kind of stuff the loyalist side had in terms of wargear?

Honetly it depends on how you want to set up their fluff.

For example, my Luna Wolves were a mixture of Terran Vets and Cthonians who acted as a training detachment for new recruits from Cthonia. When they got word of Horus changing the legions name and soon after, word of the Heresy they told him to get fethed. So I have them in Mk3 and 4 with a few suits of MK 2 to show the older equipment a rear guard unit would have.

Horus made sure his boys had the best.

Loken and the SoH on Istvaan III never actually had the chance to go back to the Luna Wolf colours and heraldry, did they?

No, after the incident with the Interax (where Erebus stole the Anathema, or how you spell it) Horus wanted to make a statement.

Horus renamed the name of legion and changed the colors of it as well.

I thought it was the Legion that changed it's name and colors to honor Horus after he was named Warmaster? Pg. 69, Horus Heresy Book I: Betrayal

AaronWilson is a little bit off. He was the Warmaster from the beginning of the HH novels (Book 1). However, he didn't change the name and colors of his legion until after he was wounded on Davin and made his pact with the forces of Chaos (HH novel 2). It is the very beginning of novel 3 that they start calling themselves Sons of Horus and change the color of their armor.

Actually AaronWilson is correct in regards to the name timeline, Horus was Warmaster from the begining of book 1, but renames his legion and recolors it a few weeks after the Interex incident in a decree (page 410 of Horus Rising in my book version), which was a decent while before Davin.

I have only read the novels (Aka Horus Rising, Galaxy in Flames, Flight of Eisenstien, Fulgrim etc) and I've not read the big black books. but R0bcrt has the same understanding as I.
