Armoured breakthrough says 'Infantry units that can do so must purchase a Dedicated Transport, and those without the option must be deployed mounted in another vehicle which itself has a transport capacity'

If I want to take a tactical squad in this Rite of War, can I put them in a Spartan if I make the squad size larger than 10?
Rhinos are their dedicated transport option, but they can't purchase one if they number more than 10, or does it work the other way round and they can't be more than 10 so they can fit in their dedicated transport option?

Cheers.

Yeah I've fallen foul of this too.. The rule is pretty clear tho, if you can buy a dedicated transport , you have to.

Rules as it is yes rhino it is. I would have no problems with using Spartan though. At least if nothing else is bit more inventive use for Spartan than Primarch+terminators & rush it in!

RAW, they do have to purchase the rhino, although I guess it comes down to order of operations: do you check to see if you can buy a transport first, or do you buy the number of models you want, THEN check to see if you can take a dedicated transport?

RAI, I think so long as the unit has a transport and is inside come turn 1, I think you're good.

No order of operations there. That's why in 40k side apo with special weapon didn't work out as FAQ clarified.

As far as I read it, you can put them in a spartan. You can't even buy a rhino for the squad if it's larger than 10. It,s like buying special weapons for destroyers. One for every 5 models. It,s not an order of operations. It's more like a checklist. Until the game starts you can go back and forth altering whatever you like. set the size of the unit and buy their gear. Is the tac squad larger than 10 models? If yes then there is No option for a rhino, and you must buy a spartan or other vehicle with sufficient capacity. If the squad is 10 models or less, you can't skip the rhino and mount the squad in a heavy support choice landraider, because that's not a dedicated transport and at 10 models or less you have a listed dedicated transport option.

Thanks for replies folks. I have a further question related to this rite of war now:

1) Can the troop Predators take pintle weapons?
2) Are sponsons compulsory for the troop predators?

My reading of the rules is that it's just a badly written way of saying that you can't take the jazzy plasma/melta turrets on the troop predators, and that's the only limitation, therefore pintle weapons would be allowed and sponsons not compulsory.

I'm not sure where the compulsory sponson bit comes from unless you read the rules very literally, pintle weapons maybe prohibited by the 'cannon turret and sponson weapons *only* line?

I've checked around the interwebs and have met mixed conclusions - any ideas folks?

tl;dr: In armored breakthrough can my troop predators take pintle weapons and no sponsons?

RAW I guess pintle is out though that's harsh. Sponsons I don't see why they would be compulsory.

I would have no problem with pintle and no sponsons..

Technically pintles aren't allowed, but that's kinda dumb so will usually ignore that.
I don't see why sponsons are compulsory.

The way I read it, it's saying you can only use autocannon turrets and that sponsons are allowed. To me, for pintles or other upgrades to not be allowed, it would say so specifically.

I would like to know what legion you're using this rite with as it's one of my absolute favourites, but I never see anyone else using it.

I use it for my thousand sons. I love the armoured company feel and the bonuses are much better than the other tank ROW.

No real synergy other than shooting psychic shriek from the top of fast rhinos.
