After about a 15 year absence from the scene, I am going to redo my old Ork army. I have a lot of concerns regarding 8th Ed. Mainly, all the battle reports I see use some kind of flyer, the game doesn't seem as bad as the old Herohammer but its gotten a lot more complicated for the Orks.

I am hoping that having twp units of tankbustas in trukks will be enough to deal with any tanks that come my way. If I run in to a titan heavy, or walker heavy, or vehicle heavy army, then I think I am in trouble. But in the end, even if I get wiped, I might have enough da jump and kommandoes to claim enough VP to sneak out the win. I also toyed with the idea of adding a dread but it would just get shot up turn one as it seems even a naut meets the same fate.

I would have liked to include a painboy, but there is no way I will spend the points on a power klaw just because GW wants us to buy their only painboy model. The waugh banner is also an option. I would be able to squeeze him in pretty easily.

I will never use special characters, so Ghaz is out of the question.

He looks pretty easy to convert:



Hack off that power claw at the wrist, attach choppa or hook or skull on a spike into stump (or that saw finger of the claw if you don't have an implement you like handy).

On the list as is, not much of an Ork or 48K expert. I guess I can comment on all the Jump spam: was the intent to maximize Jump redundancy because you're worried about losing your weirdboys and really need access to that power throughout the game? Typically I've seen weirdboy spam alternate Jump and Warpath, allowing for the Warpath + Jump combo but also just giving more power options a turn, since the redundant Jumps are just there for insurance or maybe board coverage.

The painboy is a great model, and fantastic for conversions. The problem is that as it stands, the painboy must use a powerklaw, based on what it says in the Xenois.

You are right about the da jump spam, I would probably have one weirdboy go warpath, and maybe even eadbanger.

Another idea would be to chop a unit of boys and go for a unit of kustom mega blasta eavy weapon support.

Whoops, my bad. Clearly unexpected! But I guess it fits GW's 'rules to match the models' thing that's happening

Keep the model as it is. The painboy must have a klaw or a killsaw now and his klaw is a bit different one, aesthetically speaking, it can be considered as "dok tools" if the p.klaw becomes not mandatory when the codex drops. No need to convert him unless you don't like the pose or that arm.

Your army looks pretty shooty so I would say use the mek gunz supported by kommandos for objective grabbing. any extra points for dakkajet i guess. 2 dakkajet with extra supa shootas, 3 mega kannons and 10 kommandos are exactly 512 together. Might have to shuffle things for upgrades on the kommandos though.

Thanks, Yeah. I added another 10 man squad of Kommando's, a painboy with killsaw and a waagh banner, with amekboy to form a vanguard +1 cp.

I still have about 100 pts left after that.
