I thought I would post this up as I have not seen it on here yet. The concept is interesting as they are doing a ruleset that you can use with any models or you can also opt in for the files to 3D print your own armies, scenery, and everything.

I have been 3D printing for the past almost year and this caught my eye. What is everyone's thoughts on being able to print your own armies? Will it change the over priced gaming market some making it adjust a bit or is this still down the road for when 3d printers become faster and produce better quality prints?

I definately think it is worth backing.

Glory is fleeting, but obscurity lasts forever.

Considering also your duty as a warrior you should not waver. Because there is nothing more auspicious for a warrior than a righteous war.

I don't really get the "Tabletop Real Time Strategy Wargame!"

I get that it is like the computer RTS games where you have to harvest resources, but that is not what makes it Real Time in my book. Real Time indicates that it's not turn based, which this game is.

I predict a fail.

Yeah, grabbed my attention yesterday because I was curious to see how this would work. It doesn't, because it's still alternating activations.

Eh no, I predict a fail because I don't see a selling point with these rules, and I don't think the 3D printers are widespread enough to warrant the game. But I might be wrong! And if I am wrong, so much better!

3d printers as a whole became more widespread starting about a year ago when they stared to make full printers at affordable prices that weren't kits you had to fully build yourself. I got my Monoprice maker II for like $217 shipped on black friday and it is a beast. Never had any major problems and I have probably put well over 600 hrs on it and I knew nothing about 3d printers. I got a ton of scenery and extras for my games for pennies by printing it myself. The 3d printer has paid for itself about 1000x over by now and i still use it almost daily for different projects both small and large. a large spool of filament costs around $15 on special and can easily print something the size of a Warhoundesc model with all weapon options or in contrast several large multistory 28mm buildings.

There are a ton of people online using them and a lot of support groups and free sites to download files. But i guess there are those who like spending $30-50 on a scenery kit that they could print for less then $5.

The convience is just too tempting. Need a shoulder pad for those pesky terminators who you wanna magnatize, done. Want to rebase an army... done. Want impressive scatter terrain... done. Want to do a several day multipart large print. A lot of work but very impressive results.

If you don't have a 3d printer and do a lot of wargaming or love to do wargaming projects, scenery, projects or conversions my question for you is why don't you have one? It is seriously the best gaming investment I have ever made, hands down.

I'm not slagging 3D printers. I have backed a couple of terrain kickstarters for 3D printing. I just don't see the value in this game.

I will agree their stretch goals are out there a bit but overall the price was a little high but the game seems interesting and I like the concept so I backed it. We will see if it gets the needed support or not. I have backed other 3d scenery KS projects before and the results have been worth it.

It's a hard thing coming out of your basement after 3 years trying to propose something new to the world and have to compete with industry giants.

More than 100 peoples have backed this, lower priced tiers are almost out. It is trending toward its goal.

It's more than a 3D printed game, its a wargaming system. Go check out www.alloutwar.game

There will be a round 2 for those stretch goals. These terrains need to exist. I found no 3D printable Orc & Gobelin Scenery out there.

Price/quality ratio isn't there at this point for consumer-grade printers yet (particularly here in AU). Even fine-detail stuff from Shapeways has print lines. Hoping it's at that point within a couple more years.
