Be'Lakor is a fantastic model. He is just all around good between a good melee attack, two spells/turn, a sweet support ability, and decent durability (note that he ignores all rend and can heal wounds from enemy battleshock). In a non-Tzeentch army I would say he is worth taking over a LoC, but only if you have a general already since Be'Lakor makes an extremely poor choice for one. The key is not to put Be'Lakor near the front line during the first half of the game. It's very easy to keep him quite far back only to have him jump 12" forward and charge to take out a key target later on. If your enemy has a lot of shooting a mystic shield will do wonders since he will be at a 3+ ignoring all rend (couple with a chaos sorcerer lord to re-roll saves of 1 if you need even more durability).
As for a bloodthirster... that's hard to say. Because bloodthirsters are also very strong for their points.
