I had another Demiurg thread on here but it bacame dead due to the photobucket mess... so.. To cut a long story short... I quite liked the idea of rock-dwarfs in space so I decided to put some together. I used some bits from various companies and based the troops around GW Kharadron Overlords with converted heads.
These three are the first of the troopers:
They represent (bottom row from left to right) a drone controller, leader and mech. After a little bit of negative feedback, the leader got a trim:
The idea is that each unit has the three troopers above in it and is accompanied by a range of drones; both ground and air based. The first drones are these:
I need to re-base them to match the Demiurg but they are painted and in storage somewhere so I will have to dig them out, at some point, to do it. I also need to tidy up the base of the drone controller that is posted below (the first one of the Demiurg that I have painted):
The next one to be painted will be the mech.

Great little project Inso, a race that never really gets any attention.
Good luck on the project.

These are quite excellent. The green-stuff work on the heads is fantastic, and I really like the way the Kharadron Overlord bodies have a sort of boiler-plate-space-suit look.
Good luck with the project an I look forward to seeing more!

These are great! Are those drones Ghar from Gates of Antares?
Also I liked the first leader head but the smaller one is also okay.

Cheers and yes, they are Ghar
I got a lot of negative feedback about the leader's crest so I felt it would be better to trim it a little... It looks a bit less like a chef's hat now

I love the originality and execution - you've got a unique take on the subject. I do think the beards should be a different color than the skin though, even if still pretty subdued.

I understand why you'd want the beard a different colour... but I view them more like stalagmites... extensions of the original rock material... so I reckon they NEED to be the same colour as the face... but you have me thinking about it and that may change ...
So... in a moment of drug induced (prescribed painkillers) euphoria, I went online and did some shopping and for some reason, I bought a radio controlled truck. It was cheap (luckily) but it is large and has six wheels.
I have no idea why I decided to buy the thing but, in hind-sight, it probably wasn't such a bad idea. I can turn it into a Demiurg super-heavy transport .
The truck is the one on the left and the image on the right is of the shape I quite like... but obviously, the vehicle will be MUCH larger . I reckon I can turn it into something quite interesting... with the added bonus that it will be able to move around under its own steam :

I have also started work on the army commander:

I did a bit of rooting about in storage boxes and have located the drones that I have assembled. 3 just need the bases doing and the other 3 need a lot more work. I have also started the three Demiurg troops for the next unit :
I thought I may as well get on with the next 3 Demiurg, seeing as I am sculpting heads for the commander and his driver already... may as well do them all

The first three drones are now re-based and have joined their Demiurg owners:
I think that each of the drone squads will have six of these large drones in them, with a few aerial drones for spotting and shielding. I haven't decided on which aerial drones I will go for yet... so I will tick along with the big drones and Demiurg for now .

I have been trying to get the project moving by removing the need to sculpt every head. As a result, I decided to try using an old style, Mantic Steel Warrior head (now called militia) and this is what I ended up with:
He is a standard mechanic/engineer and has the usual Anvil Industry weapons and pack. I think the large size of the helmet works very well and I am going to continue with a few more of these .

Really, really nice job on these.
This is probably the most original take on Demiurg that I have seen - actually something that isn't just 'dwarves in space', and actually looks like some kind of hi-tech alien species.
I think fits in with the weird and slightly eerie concept of the Demiurg as you have known them so far (in BFG and that brief mention in the Xenos book)
Great work, looking forward to seeing more!

Cheers . That was my whole idea... Demiurg are alien rock people so that's what they needed to be made as
There will be more but it's a 'slow boil' project to take my mind off the main projects I have on the go.
I also only have a couple of the Mantic heads so I will have to either get some more or press mould a few to get things moving... so it may or may not happen quickly.
I still have the command walker and three troops on the table, waiting for head-sculpts so they are still very much on the agenda. I also primed the helmet wearing one yesterday so he is likely to get some paint soon .

It's been a while but I have found some new motivation to continue with this little project .
With that in mind, I will bring things up to date with the three more Demiurg:
As with the others, there is a Mechanic/Engineer, a Leader and a Controller (in that order).
These ones are for the Air Guild. The previous ones were part of the Earth Guild.
The Air Guilders run space and air operations, the Earth Guilders run all ground operations and the Subterranean Guild run underground and sea operations. I will be adding more information very soon .

There are more images of these, plus WIP pix of the drones I plan to use... and also a major upheaval that will have quite an impact on my hobby time... in this blog post :

The first bit of sculpting for ages. This is a Demiurg Air Guilder with a partial face mask.
I haven't got his two buddies yet (EBay seller hasn't sent what I paid for... dispute ongoing) so I'll get this one painted and see what happens. I have two Mantic helmets ready for the other two (when I get them) so they will have not 'skin' showing. Hopefully the weather will suit a bit of priming action tomorrow... then I can get straight on it .

I managed to find a pair of Arkanauts to go with the leader... so I now have a fully painted leader, a fully converted mechanic and a partially converted drone controller:
All that is needed (before priming), is a little bit of work on the face of the drone controller (to make him look a bit different to the mechanic) and a small tidy up on the back of his spear hand (to attach the cord properly)... then it'll be back to the drones .

Not very much has been happening recently... but I have managed to finish an Air Guild, Leader:
... and an Air Guild, Mechanic:
The drone controller is still 'sculpting in progress' so he'll turn up at some point... then it will be all hands to drone painting .

The last of the Demiurg Air Guild is finished :
I still have the drones to finish but I am getting fed up with not knowing the paint-scheme of my existing Earth Guilders... so it looks like I am going to be fishing those out and painting lots of colours on to paper to try and work out what colours I used. That way, once I know, the drones will all look as uniform as the Air Guilders do. I will say that the Air Guild Demiurg, are painted in a different shade of green to the drones... but that isn't a problem as long as they are all painted the same way .
I may even assemble the first full unit of Earth Drones... 10 walkers with a mix of assault/battle/bomber/shield configurations... if I can summon the enthusiasm .

Cheers . As it would happen, the colours turned up with a copy of Warhammer Conquest magazine... so that was handy .
In other news... Some of the Earth Guild Drones have been dug out, where necessary assembled and then some paint has been slapped on:
They are obviously WIP and the different stages and thoughts on the project are sort of explained, over at this blog post:
