Hey all,

I'm looking at possibly getting a Forge World ROB board section or two, and I was wondering about people's experiences with them.

Are they sturdy? Do they warp easily? Are they brittle or can they take punishment?

I was thinking specifically of the crashed Thunderhawk https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-US/Realm-of-Battle-Crashed-Thunderhawk and Strongpoint https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-US/Realm-of-Battle-Imperial-Strongpoint

If they're anything like the GW ones, they're one thing: loud.

They're cool looking - but really nothing you couldn't bash up for far less cost. No hands on experience with the FW ones myself.

I have the turbolaser emplacement one, and it's a solid brick of resin. Obviously it's going to break if you treat it badly, but if you're reasonably careful with your models (as you should be) it's no more of a concern than any other model. As for the warping, mine seems to be pretty flat. I haven't started working on it yet, but it passes the eye test so any straightening should be pretty minimal.

(Note that I got it as a photo backdrop/diorama piece, so I haven't tested how it fits with the other RoB tiles.)

Strongly disagree here. Unless you're an absolute god of scratchbuilding you aren't going to build anything like the FW tiles without an immense amount of effort and probably a lot of money. They're really nice display pieces that you can play a game on, not the usual tabletop-quality terrain most people use.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.
