I do not see any restrictions from Chronus commanding the grav tank. Am I reading the codex right?

DakkaDakka is really the place where you need anti-tank guns to kill basic dudes, because anything less isn't durable enough. |

No. Chronus isn't 'restricted' from certain options, he just has a list of explicit options he's allowed to take. The Grav Tank is not one of those options. (Because of this, he also can't command any Forge World vehicle, or a few other random one-off vehicles.)

Sergeant Chronus' datasheet explicitly lists which Space Marine vehicles can take him as an upgrade. The Repulsor is not on that list.

Because there isn't one. He has an explicit, permissive list of tanks he can drive. If it's not on the list, he can't drive it.
Might as well say "There isn't a restriction on him driving a Wave Serpent" either.
