Dear experts

I have tried and tried and subsequently failed to build a viable list (nothing broken but half decent) combining my two favourite models right now. Morty and Arry.

Any idea and pointers into how I can make a list with those two models. Am open to any other models as have nothing bought!

Begging for some sound advice!

Are you asking for a fluff army or a tournament ready army? The only way I can see making it tournament prep is to put ahri and Morty in the same detachment so you can milk alpha legion etc. on the important units (such as 3x3 oblits with alpha legion). Morty doens't benefit significantly from DG legion trait and ahriman is TS who have no codex.

So really ahri / morti in SC with 2 other HQ then the rest of the list can be totally standard. You need more threats then just morti so 3x3 oblits and horror spam with changeling etc. is a good start. Exalted flamers are low tiwer competitive as well...

Would much rather have a fluffy army and will not be using it at a tournament so looking for a nice fun army. Reason for the mix is of course new model envy... love what they have done with the new chaos stuff and looking to get my fingers in both pies so to speak.

Hadn’t thought about using supreme command detachments.

From a fluff perspective was looking at argument joining up with mortarion after he had been shunned by the return of Magnus (am I rightvthey don’t get along?). So was looking at being a contingent of tzeentch models to off set the lumbering force of the death guard but complimenting them with more mortal wounds loveliness.

Just wasn’t sure if a) the fluff was sound or b) how to balance it all as units are so expensive

With the new thousand son rules, Ahriman can get a whopping +4 to cast if he's near two other thousand sons psykers.
A lot of points to invest tho..

This would be my list. Not crazy competitive, but should be strong enough to have fun playing. It gets you 9 CP's too, which is good for hiding poxwalkers/Morty for a turn or two.

How are you hiding Morty with this list?

Using the strategem that he can't be targeted unless he is the closest unit.

Mort is not infantry which is required to use that strat

I don't think you should include Mort if you plan on "hiding" him. He is a damage sink and output - you should be trying to get him into your opponents face ASAP. You need to increase your threats so if they focus mort you make it up elsewhere.

PBC are good point value to go deathguard route. If you are looking for HQ consider cor'bax. I don't think i've seen him in any competitive list but clocking in at 8T 12W and reasonable movement (7 inches) is not bad at about 200 points. Nerfs enemy psycker tests and on death can do up to d6 mortal wounds (d6 inches though). Due to severe movement crippling him I think typhus is only worth it if you bring a slew of pox walkers...
