They've been previewed, but not released. I think it comes out early next year.

I think some boxed sets were available for sale at conventions, and at the least people were getting it demo'd to them a bit.

So yeah, some people are/have played it, but it's not out for general release yet.

Fantastic ruleset, simple and elegant and not grinding to a halt with buckets of dice and rerolls. And no IGOUGO!
But....star wars... -_-

In a better world, FFG would supply the rules while GW supply the models and setting.

Nothing has been available for sale anywhere yet. FFG has been running demos at various cons. That's all. We know MOST of the rules, but haven't yet seen a rules document and don't yet know how a couple of important points work.

Having said all that, the rule set appears to be pretty tight. It seems to share more in common with X-Wing/Armada than it does with 40k.

A couple of points...
1. Vehicles have a facing. Infantry models don't. This means that positioning is important for some models and less so for others.
2. Alternating activations, each unit takes two actions when activated... so there isn't a separate move/shoot phase, for instance.
3. All scenarios are objective based. Killing opponents doesn't win the game, but it does make achieving your objectives easier as there will be less resistance.
4. Doesn't seem like alpha strikes are a thing in this game.
5. Armies are built using a 6th Ed. style Force Org chart... i.e. 1-2 Commanders, 3-6 Corps, 0-2 Special Forces, 0-2 Heavy, 0-3 Support.

There's a suppression mechanic that reduces the actions your opponents get once you go past a certain threshold based on number of units in the squad.

If you exceed 3x that value the in suppression the unit will be destroyed.

It's pretty good so far.

FFG really seem to do things right with this game. And I hate them for it, seeing how much money this is gonna cost me...

Game seems to do just about everything right, cant wait to try it out!

I'm hoping this comes out at the end of January as I need something to keep me busy. I totally expect Leia in hoth gear and one more rebel expansion to be announced during this month though. I haven't placed any pre orders as I don't like doing so without a release date...and that goes for anything, not just miniatures.
