New live action TV show based off of the Teen Titans comic book.

They've just released a picture of Dick Greyson's Robin played by Brenton Thwaites.

He looks really good, I think. - Like he walked right out of the Batman: Arkham computer games.

Bad news is, it looks like it's going to be on some sort of Warner Brothers version of CBS: All Access.

So, in other words, I'll never see the show in the UK, I'd imagine.

We'll find out soon enough eh.

FFS, why, why can these companies never grasp that if you push things too far in their endless quest to have All The Money everybody ends up earning less?

Nobody is going to sub to a dozen of these rando micro-stream services AND Netflix AND Amazon, and no matter how hard they try these micro services aren't going to topple the name in online streaming and the company determined to rule the world with Bezos Bucks to back them up, so all the proliferation of such services will do is push up piracy and limit audiences(which, of course, these corporate clowns will never admit is their fault, instead they'll say "audiences just don't want XYZ style of content any more, what a shame but the markets have spoken" etc and just cancel a bunch of cool stuff that could have thrived if not held hostage to their greed).

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.

"The language of modern British politics is meant to sound benign. But words do not mean what they seem to mean. 'Reform' actually means 'cut' or 'end'. 'Flexibility' really means 'exploit'. 'Prudence' really means 'don't invest'. And 'efficient'? That means whatever you want it to mean, usually 'cut'. All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal

That's a cool suit, as you say, very Arkham. I was sure I'd read he'd be playing Grayson as Nightwing rather than Robin, but this'll do.

Are we sure the service isn't launching in the UK as well? Given that there's a whole bunch of stuff slated for it, including the Titans series and the third series of Young Justice, they'd be mad to restrict that to a US audience.

Great looking costume. Better than any film really. Better than Arkham's silly dark cage fighter look too.

I'm looking forward to the day when there's so many individual streaming services that enough of them get dropped that a company is going to be able to work out a deal where they offer bundles of streaming services for a single lower fee. Basically reinventing the cable industry with the very thing that destroyed it.

Because they know they'll make bank.

You say "nobody will go with this" but history is against you. Everyone said the same thing about cable, back when cable was free. Everyone said the same thing about video games back when they first started cutting content from their games and selling it to you as "DLC". You're underestimating how lazy and compliant the general populace is. Reason #372 for why "The Invisible Hand" is ineffectual nonsense.

As for the show, I'm more or less on the same boat. The production values look decent if that pic is any indication, but I'm not subscribing to some Netflix-but-shittier service just to watch it.

I think after a few years of these streaming services getting torrented on an insane scale, they'll either give up or cut deals with Netflix/Amazon on the thinking that some money is better than none

Looks good. Reading up on the show it seems like Starfire, Raven and Beastboy are confirmed. I guess Cyborg is out due to his JLA appearance so as not to confuse people, but would that also mean no Deathstroke? Not to mention how do you address the backstory issue with Robin and any other legacy/former sidekick hero's

I believe the confirmed cast are Grayson, Starfire Raven and Beastboy (all cast), along with Hawk and Dove (not yet cast).

I imagine that in the same way Supergirl occasionally has Superman show up/be mentioned, and Flash exists in his show and the DCEU, they'll probably be allowed to reference the likes of Batman but not feature them directly. Villains might be a bit of a grey area; Arrow had to kill off Deadshot so he could appear in Suicide Squad, but Deathstroke has featured in it since he was confirmed to be in The Batman, so it seems to be a case-by-case thing.

I imagine another issue with Cyborg is that he'd be an utter pain on their budget due to him needing to be CGI'd at all times, even if he's just standing there whacking off in a bathrobe. The others can suffice with make-up and light CGI (like making someone's skin green-tinted) when they're not in combat situations, which narrows down the intensive CGI to just a few scenes per episode.

Deathstroke had his final appearance on Arrow.

So it's all a big wibbly wobbly mess, I think. Eh I've heard rumours that Gotham had blocked more CW things in the past couple of years than any issues about the movies
