Sorry for the newbie question but I dont want to end up buying obsolete books.

I am looking at purchasing the Grand Alliance Chaos book but I noticed that the Battletome Blades of Khorne has units that are also in the GA Chaos book.

Does the Khorne book over rule the unit entries in the GA Chaos book, or are they the same?

Are you planning on starting a Khorne army? When I play my Khorne list, I bring three books: Grand Alliance: Chaos, Blades of Khorne, and General's Handbook 2017. Whether daemons or mortals, I would actually recommend buying both books if you're like me and prefer physical books to flip through. There are several units in the Grand Alliance book that can be used in a Khorne army that aren't in Blades of Khorne, such as Slaves to Darkness (old Warriors of Chaos) with the mark of Khorne. You'll use the warscrolls from Blades of Khorne for the units in that book, though, since they are the most recent.

2000 Khorne Bloodbound (Skullfiend Tribe- Aqshy)
1000 Tzeentch Arcanites (Pyrofane Cult - Hysh) in progress
2000 Slaves to Darkness (Ravagers)

Thanks for your reply.

I am going to start with basic CW and marauders initially to get a feel for the game and then possibly branch out into demons.

Because the TZ/Khorne/Skaven books are out then half the book is basically obsolete?

The only Skaven book out right now is Clan Pestillens. I guess you could call the old warscrolls obsolete if you want to use that terminology, but you won't find Slaves to Darkness warscrolls in either of the god-specific book. You also have lots of scrolls for models you might want to ally in like Slaughterbrutes (though there is also a Khorne-specific scroll now, too) or Chaos Gargants.

Cool, sounds like it is still worth getting.

Thanks for your help!
