Farting around on thingiverse, I came across some nice mechs pulled from MWO and set out for printing... thought I'd give one a go as practice for cleaning up printed jobs...

Around 5 hours print time, 5 hours paint. Base is 75mm across.

Not a proper build (mix of AC / laser) so I may pull an arm off and swap out with another locust.

How much cleanup work did you need to make the print look clean? I can't really even tell it was printed. Nice job!

Not that much; the backs of the legs are a bit rough due to overhangs and I had to replace the AC barrel with a piece of wire. I dropped it and lost it to the carpet monster, and it was a little rough due to being printed vertically. Other than that, I think it took around an hour to clean up and assemble, including a good couple of applications of liquid greenstuff (which is actually good-to-excellent for surfacing work).

My printers are pretty well dialled in, but at the end of the day they're still FDM which struggles a bit, especially with steep overhangs. Got an SLA printer coming next year which should do the job for more delicate parts better.

Lovely work!

The chipping on the paint is exceptional. Looks Davion green to me, needs a Sword and Sunburst on it.

Here's a shot of a raw print of another locust, still on the glass:
