My wheels have been spinning a bit on the vehicle conversion (and I'm waiting for more bits), so I've been thinking about what to do with Makari. I plan to have a sort of grot theme to my army, and would love for him to have a prominent place in it. I've thought about making a sort of 1-ork-palaquin with Makari standing on the platform with the banner and have the Ork carry a Kustom Shoota so he'd be a sort of WYSIWYG Nob with Waaaagh! Banner, but I'm looking for other ideas or options. Could/Should he be a warboss? A runt herder? My army is going to start small (with correspondingly low point value) so it'd be nice if I could get him to fulfill a HQ slot. Maybe magnetize his feet so I can move him around to different support 'structures' once my army grows?

What would you do with him?

Masterblaster FTW.

Maybe have a large nob-type with a backpack banner pole with a crows nest built in that he rides on. Enclosed helm modeled on the nob and a shokk attack gun for a big mek counts-as.

It all makes so much sense

I was waiting on the gretchins to arrive -- it has a coat of black now, and i'm working on the rokkit launcher for the existing hatch-thing. One grot holding the rokkit, another lighting the fuse . Got the first gretchin modified, but i need some green-stuff to clean up the gaps where i rotated his wrist (it will get here next week). I will make a different lid for the big shoota -- wasn't satisfied with just using an 'eavy weapons ork, since his shoota was too low for him to be only halfway out of the hatch.

Re : mast-blasta -- Makari has a banner pole of his own... banner pole on a banner pole would be amusing. I also picked up one of the little snotlings that hangs off the back of a biker boss's banner, so i'm thinking of putting him on makari's banner (snotling on a grot on an ork? like a turducken, but snogrorken? or would that be orgrotling?)

Can't wait to see what you've done to the wheelz. I sold off my old Ork band years ago... Just picked the hobby back up and I think once I get through my W.E. I'll be revisiting the greenskinz. Too much fun mashing plasticard and bits together lol.

What I meant was, Makari was always the background flag-waver for Gazghkull, now that he's somehow (luckily, I'm sure) been spit up by a squig and found his way to a proppa command position, it'd be funny for him to be the banner held aloft by the Ork that now labors under his shadow.

On the other hand, your idea is, imho, just OTT enough to be a hilariously justified centerpiece for a unique warband.

Also. Orgrotling would be correct in terms of syntax, but Orks don't care about that and Snogrorken sounds way funnier.

Hey by the way.

When I was asking you about your trukk and glyphs and whatnot I asked you if your boyz had a clan.

Then it just clicked that you're not going to have any Orks, are you?

Wasn't sure if you were aware that this was a thing:

Rebel grots were first mentioned back in 1ed and were included in the 40k spinoff game GorkaMorka.

Makari's revenge?

Lol, nice -- I need to go read through that whole link. I'd love to do an all-grot army, with some of them "counts-as" orks, the kromlech offerings tickle my fancy but $$$...

Even without doing the counts-as I plan to make the army very Grot-heavy... grots driving every vehicle, get some artillery going etc. Been contemplating a wierd-boy based on one of the AoS grot shamans.

I didn't answer the "which clan?" question because I haven't chosen one... thinking of just making up my own (Makari's revenge, i like it! Need to come up with a suitably fluffy backstory... I contemplated painting him up sort of undead, need to get a couple more so I can try different things)

Well. If it were a grot rebellion it wouldn't have a clan affiliation. It'd be a bunch of upstart little grots thinkin they'll have their way in the world lol.

I always wanted to do one of those armies though.. You can really make use of all of the regular vehicles, just crewed by grots (deff dreadz 'n kanz can have grots popping out of the hatches) and you can even make mega-armour suits that have grot heads in 'em (I always thought it'd be neat to just have them sitting in a pilot's seat recessed into where the torso of an Ork would be)

Using the rules profiles for any Ork infantry can be modeled with multiple grots on a base, squigs 'n grots, or even smaller versions of the 'Eavy suits I described above (or liberal use of bionics, or whatever the hell you want because greenskinz lol)

That Kromlech stuff is really good (the style is awesome imo) but totally pricey.

Your best friend for getting a load of grots on the table is the AOS/WHFB line. Problem is, I looked yesterday and found that the ROTTEN GITZ discontinued what they now call just generic grots and as of checking just now, they're back on the site at a ridiculously inflated price of $55 a box.

The box is formerly known as "Warhammer Fantasy Goblin Regiment" and if you poke around ebay you can find a couple of them either unopened or opened but full sprues for 25/30 bucks.

I would snap 'em up fast if you plan to build a grot-themed army without a mortgage payment lol.
