I am going to test this list tomorow against Death Guard

The Herald will be sumonned. but is there to support the fiends/Kytan with his aura.

I will probably get utterly destroyed as I have not played for a few months and my opponent got in 1-2 games a week and I know he will most likely play Mortarion so any hints/advice are welcome.

Looks good, although i would drop the black mace from the DA and take the Brass Collar of Borghaster on him or the Deamon Price to give you some physic defense from all the physic powers the Death Guard have.

Forgefiend's are a little "meh" i've found good old havocs with lascannon or Missile launchers more effective but YMMV.

Or even take a contemptor now they are cheaper if you have the model? The twin chainclaw option is really nice on the comtemptor. However that will break your spearhead detachment.

If you focus fire with what shooting you have on Morty. Or try your hardest to get the Kytan in melee with him, you should have a fighting chance.

I wish you well in your game!

That Kytan should destroy Morty once you get him in combat. Just keep firing at him until you do.

Nice point for the Borghaster. it will probably give me more then that black mace as the DA is mostly there for the bubble and usually has a hard time keeping up with the zerkers. He usually only gets 1-2 turns of combat in my games (the zerkers obliterate the rest)

Well the havocs are on my to build and paint list and I have no contemptor.. 1.. And it is rather fluffy to take daemonic engines in World Eater lists... It will be his first test... If I can park him and use him as a DS zone denier it will be fine (I hope). I guess that daemoforge stratagem will be nice to. But I will probably use it on the Kytan.

Well I hope he dies rather quick. Battles should smell of blood and not of sick...

I'm very interested in hearing how the Kytan hold up against DG. I've got one on my wishlist. My encounter with Morty was not a good one. May his head lie at the foot of the Skull Throne.

Well I did not stand a chance to be honest he had a DG/alpha legion mix. He had 2 battalions. 60 cultists and a bunch of poxwalkers, did a spell on the poxwalkers that I could not target them and then had that thing going that if I kill the cultists in melee he could add them to there poxwalkers.
Then he had 2 plague burst crawlers, some shooty plague marines, morty, 2 DP (one with the item that he got a 2+ and that every save would be a mortal wound on the unit that did it) a lord, and that new nugle vehicle from the starter set

Bringing that Kytan first in melee with Morty is impossible unless your opponent does not really understand the game. As he can warptime him to be first. And if you play piece for piece, he kills the most points, he had a DP and plagueburst to back morty up which . I could not take my time due to his plague burst crawlers. (they shot 9 wounds on the Kytan turn one, they do not need line of sight)

Unless your opponent messes up with target prioritizing you do not stand a chance.

The problem with this list really was lack of solutions and consistency.

First of all. Summoning the herald was a mistake. As I overlooked that the character that does so cannot move. That penalty is to hard in a fast pace khorne army.

I get the feeling that CC is rather dead in this edition. as you can make it over to an opponents lines with 20 berzerkers (that should hurt tremendously) and see them all dead the turn after just slightly denting there lines (if not reinforcing). And with Maulerfiends that get in to cc with a tank at full wounds and can maximum put a few wounds on a tank what remains for us khorne players? I mean he could even outpace me due to warptime.

I just do not see how to keep up with the zillion buffs non khorne players get through psychers. I mean the shear nr of mortal wounds I faced, he could smite spam, warp time, then morties special abilities doing mortal wounds to every unit within 7" and then he even outmatched me in CC with lower pts units then the ones I was using

I could start adding heavy artillery... But that would not be a World eaters list, would it?

We need our own codex, we need angron. and we need more synergy for khorne armies. But I am affraid it will not be for the first years. 8th should Khornes edition...

Wow, that sounds like a rough game. With having so many psychic powers I like having brass collar and lord Zhufor. That gives some protection from that nonsense. As for dealing with the shooting, that's even tougher since terrain cover sucks in 8th. Was the Kytan able to make it's points back at least?

I was rusty and should have used my WE stratagem more probably (stop magic in 4+) but even then...

Nope, he died turn 3 (charge morty) he did 9 wounds on morty with shooting thanks to daemonforge. I had a maulerfiend put morty on 6 wounds. and 9 berzerkers with re-rolls were not able to finish him off and all died. as morty apparantly can make 15 attacks with 2+ 2+ re-rolls of 1 even at 3 wounds... It was not possible to hold the kytan back due to artillery fire that would have finished him turn 3 if I had not gone up... its a list problem: you need at least 2 major threats (3 to be competitive). I only had one and lost because of it.

But still, I find it a bit ridiculous to see khorne being outbested in speed by nurgle....

I felt that way when I fought DG. It felt like index vs codex Army.

Maulerfiends / Forgefiends are pretty terrible right now, you'd get more mileage out of Oblits or Havocs, or even Blood Slaughterers, or even even Helbrutes.

Deamon Prince's of Khorne are extremely lackluster at the moment. You are paying for a psykic power platform and getting one measly attack instead. Talisman of Burning Blood + Unholy Fortitude helps but you're better off without at the moment.

Yeah really no reason for the summoning, and really no reason for Deamons in CSM until their codex drops and we see what new toys we get.

Have you considered other ForgeWorld units like Contemptors, Drop Pods, or Zhufor? You may also want to boost your Cultist blob to 40 and then exploit Tide of Traitors, You may also want to consider a Land Raider or Khyribdis Assault Claw with one big blob of Berzerkers backed up by character auras, or two units of eight.

I'm gonna give my blood slaughterers and Zhufor a run this weekend at a semi local tournament. On paper slaughterers seem like absolute monsters.

Here's a link to my list.

Zhufor sadly is in a weird spot as he doesn't offer anything in World Eaters benefits. He only benefits <SKULLTAKERS>. If you play them, you have to take renegade legion traits meaning berzerkers aren't troops. On the other hand if you take him with World Eaters, he's a captain that doesn't give any reroll bonuses (though he adds one to morale tests). My suggestion would be add either havocs, or if you want to nuke morty, a pair of rapier batteries with laser destroyers. I've also found drop pods with possessed have done really well too.

Have you played any other matches since this post with your World Eaters? I know this post was back in December, just looking to see what kind of results you've had since then..

So I'm in a spot where I'm looking to beef up my World Eaters Roster. I'm coming off the tail end of an asswhoppin' last weekend against an IG player who just sat back and unloaded on my army as they trekked across the battlefield. I guess you could sum it up by saying that I brought a knife to a gun fight! I was looking to see what challenges WE players have faced and what adjustments they've made..

Your game recap pretty much sums up any CC centric army. In this edition you cannot afford to skip any phase. The armies that do the best are armies that participate in every phase. Primarily the shooting phase, or as my friends and I like to call it, the premium phase. This is how I rank the importance of each phase. Deployment, movement, shooting, psychic, and assault. However, done properly the assault phase is very potent and can swing games. Units just need to be selected carefully. IMO, the best unit in the game for CC is bloodletters hands down. A 30 man unit can DS for 2 cp, 3 with a bloodmaster if you really want, not really needed though, and get 3d6 charge, +1 attack and +1 str. If they have 20 or more get +1 ws at -3 and on 6 do 2dmg. With instruments and banner costs 235 points for 60 attacks. If you opponent makes a mistake and puts a few tanks to close together you have a really good shot killing both.
