[img]I have only recently got back into 40k (playing way back in 3rd-4thED) after a long hiatus (college then uni and uni again). I first met Tim Ealing back when I was in secondary school and I recently met him at the leisure center I worked for. Yes in those days when I was a teen I might have mentioned those Berserkers are rubbish, which clearly showed I did not know how to use them when I was 14, but fast forwarding over ten years and after taking a long break from Warhammer I thought best to start again a new. I looked on the spirit of the game website and saw the combat patrol had been taken down, luckily I managed to speak to Tim in a leisure centre; a chance encounter. Combat patrol was brilliant because it was basic but still used the core rule of the game which was great for beginners and veterans alike. What surprised me as we delved into the hobby was his views on Combat patrol. “it just doesn't work with 40k anymore, it has moved on so much (in a good way) since I invented it”. This surprised me but is a view clearly expressed and shared by many gamers on the web.

Which has seen GW with their open generating their own set separate of tournament rules for it and Renegade open 2017 coming up with rules that are quite frankly are complexed and are not Combat patrol. Or at least not what I perceived combat patrol to be.

Basically there is little consistancy in rules So this a rally call if you like for fellow gammers, Tim is a very busy man and Patrol clash has not been updated since 2010. I have experience community projects in the total war modding scene, they are the best way to engage large groups of people towards a project. So lets make ‘combat patrol’ ‘40k in 40 mins’ work. let makeif you like the unofficial offical rule set for combat patrol.

What/who we need: (Any one)
specifically play testers, writers and hopefully some artists (or people willing to take photos of their patrols).

What we plan to do:
debate the orriginal rule set and see what can fit into 8thED, with the results posted poll or selected by myself.
Crete a download PDF rule book and a separate army list book (to iron out oddities and maybe add nostalga)

if interested then reply to the thread.

regards BSB
