Subject: How do I colour resin?

I... actually don't know. Help?

I have some clear resin I want to dye blue - literally no arts and crafts stores near me have any resin dyes, and I need to do this in a week. Would acrylic paint work? Maybe a GW shade?

Resin uses specific tints to colour it.
If you don't have a local supplier, ebay - but that tends to put your deadline from "this week" to "sometime before the heat death of the universe."
Acrylic paint generally won't work. The exothermic processes in most resin curing tends to do funky stuff to them.

Do you need to dye it? If it's clear could you not just cast it and then run ink over it after curing?

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

It needs to be dyed, unfortunately

GW shades, as any latex/water based paints will make it opaque. Oils might work in a pinch and on time constraints, but the resin might not set right depending on the mix

GW shades are waterbased too, right? Though they feel like they wouldn't go opaque, I need the resin to be a tinted clear

Yeah, they are water based and will result in a less clear resin. Really, if you have no time to order, I would try oil based blue paint.

They could also cause the resin to "foam" up, which would probably be a bad thing.
I've had inks do that to some clear resin I attempted to colour. Now I just use the recommended tints.
