In the GK Codex it says that a Paladin Ancient make take a Nemesis Falchion (the same with a Brotherhood Ancient). However Falchions only can be bought in pairs. So, do I only get 1 falchion or is it a typo (cut and paste repeated) and I actually get the pair?

Just to make it a little more weird pairs of falchions cost 0 points.

Where are you getting that you can only buy a pair of Falchions? The points cost list only has a entry for "Nemesis falchion", singular. Same on the datasheet, the weapon entry is for a singular falchion.

Just because the Falchion has a special rule of what to do if you happen to have two, doesn't make it so you always have to have two.

You know I never noticed that due to the note for the falchion. Then the question becomes how do you get 2 falchions since you are only allowed to choose "an item from the Melee Weapons list" in most of the other entries?

On the Melee Weapons list is an entry for "Two Nemesis falchions". So if it says you may take an item from the Melee weapons list, you can take Two Nemesis falchions

So, in essence, RAW everyone can get 2 falchions except the Ancients who only get 1 falchion?

I don't get why people use RaW as a slur like that. At least that is how it's coming across to me. It's just what the rules say, it's not some sort of loophole "abuse".

Yes, anything that says they can pick an item from the Melee weapons list (except Apothecaries) can take Two Nemesis Falchions as that item. Ancients don't get the list, they get a specific option of a single Flachion.

I wasn't using it as a slur. Just a statement of fact. It just seems odd to me that the Paladin Ancients can't get 2 falchions but (almost) everyone else can. i understand that the banner bearer can't use 2 swords but the other ancients not so much. They don't even get to choose a force sword as a HTH weapon only the falchion.

It's because of the physical options in the boxed set.

The Apothecary may only take a single falchion because only its right hand is free to take a weapon of choice as the left hand has the narthecium and no empty hand slot. This is also why the Apothecary cannot take a ranged weapon.

The Paladin Ancient may only take a single falchion because only its left hand is free to take a weapon of choice as the right hand has the banner and weapons other than the falchion only come on the right hand. This is also why the Paladin Ancient can take a ranged weapon.
