Our group is starting up Necromunda and we are going to be playing 2-8 players at times. Looking at the tiles I have seen some say 2 gang fighters per player per tile, (with two players total).
So if we are playing 5 players, (like tonight) how many tiles and 3d terrain should I include and more importantly, how many gangers should each player be allowed to run with?
How do you all feel about the random rolling for the number of gangers a player has?
Any other items I should look at for multiple players?
Thanks
It is going to depend on the level of experience of the players. several ways to play it out.
Golden rule for terrain, the more the better, but not enough to crowd the boards that you can't work in the moves.
1. If they are completely new, you can give two or three gangers each out to the player, and let them run them, so they can play the base game, and learn the rules. Work it so that each player has 2 gangers, plays a couple of skirmishes', then you can make one of the guys per gang a leader. ( This will give the new players a starting point to learn the rules, see what the different weapons do, and give them some chops on playing a scrap.
2. If they are old players, they can bring their old gangs, and play with the rules on the website. Granted there are some missing stuff, but it is a good way to get to the table.
Boards- I got two base games, and the tiles can be placed on two different tables, long ways or use the 4X table, that they give you the tiles for.
You can also play 2-4 gangs on
th e base tiles that come in the box. Or just play on the table with the old scenery stuff, or 3d, with buildings and walkways.
Your idea for random rolls is good, but try it before you make it a ... thing. Other ways can be round robin, random, or the poker card method. It is going to get more complicated, so dice offs are great for more then the two, but it will boil down to initiative rolls too.
Scrap counters, and those crates work well as good incentives to gain loot, but be careful not to Monty Haul it too early.
Multiplayer games- bring a big beast to hunt, a zombie horde, or a cultist horde in,
WYSIWYG for the weapons add in a magus, or a wizard/ cult leader, and you have yourself a fight.
Big beasts- Ogryns, Rat Ogers, Giant spiders, giant scorpions, a killa kan, a dread, a sniper, a demon, Bloodletter, Plaguebearer, Blue Horror, or Demonette works, ( maybe even later games you bring a chaos cult gang, like I'm working on....) The Dark Eldar freaks and monsters might be a bit much, but hey... whatever works for something crazy to hunt, you can always fill in a backstory. ( later on, get ready for the Prime Hunters, house nobility that hunts the gangs for sport.)
