I just scored a WFRP 1st ed hand me down for my birthday.
I got:
Core book
Apocrypha 1 & 2
Marienburg
Middenheim
Dwarfs: Stone and Steel
Corrupting Influence

So I am new to this game and system. Are there any essential books I still need?

I'm back!

Essential? Only the core rulebook.
Other than that, you might wish to look for any of the WD articles that aren't in the Apocrypha books. In particular, the Marienburg articles that were in various issues between 118 and 140 (I think Marienburg: Sold Down the River is a compilation of these and additional material).

The Enemy Within Campaign is definitely looking into. A really good RPG linked campaign

"Because while the truncheon may be used in lieu of conversation, words will always retain their power. Words offer the means to meaning, and for those who will listen, the enunciation of truth. And the truth is, there is something terribly wrong with this country, isn't there? Cruelty and injustice, intolerance and oppression. And where once you had the freedom to object, to think and speak as you saw fit, you now have censors and systems of surveillance coercing your conformity and soliciting your submission. How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror. " - V

The Core book itself is great and you'll only need it really. The Cities books (Marienburg and Middenheim) are great to do some 'fixed' adventure in said cities as well.

The Enemy Within is the main campaign for that edition, and it is a rather epic one at that.
