Greetings all.

I’m about to get into the new Necromunda with my old Cawdor gang. I’ll be starting off with something like this:

Leader: power sword, bolt pistol
Champion: grenade launcher
Champion: grenade launcher
Juve: stub gun, fighting knife
Juve: stub gun, fighting knife
Juve: stub gun, fighting knife
Ganger: lasgun
Ganger: lasgun
Ganger: shotgun
Ganger: shotgun
Ganger: autogun
Ganger: autogun

Firstly, any thoughts on the starting list? Secondly, I have no idea about developing these guys in terms of skills or future equipment, and I’m trying to future proof my models to some degree. For example, the champions are my best shooters (hence why I went grenade launcher), but they don’t have the skill set to back it up. But their 4+ WS doesn’t really encourage me to build them as CC fighters either!

I’m very confused and any advice would be appreciated!

It is impossible to future proofing now that Necromunda is in the middle of development. Cawdor hasn't come out yet, and so far the two houses that are released have both new house-specific weaponry. We have simply very little idea what is going to be available for Cawdor (or even when).

Your loadout reminds me of many similar lists for other houses I've seen. Kinda boring to do the spam, I always tried mixing it up, having different equipment on most fighters.

But your list is efficient and competitive no doubt.

Haha tbh I didn’t think it was that spammy compared to some! I’ve got no more than two fighters with the same equipment except the juves, and even then I might drop one to give some back up weapons to my champions (plus three juves just seems like overkill these days).

Grenade launchers are a strong choice, but a backup weapon on them might be wise.

I'm not entirely sure how fun it would be to play against, as you've presented it, it seems a bit lifeless, but then, as long as your gang looks cool/has actual names or character, I don't think you'll notice the "clones". After all, it's more fun to get killed by "Mad Harry with his trusty old lasgun" than it is to go down vs "ganger with lasgun #2", I think.

If you are spamming in Necromunda.... you are doing it wrong.

on the forum. Obviously

Yeah, grenade launchers are a great special weapon. Cheap (for a special weapon) and versatile. Not too bad to maintain either; it has an autogun difficulty ammo check.

To be fair, legacy lists don't have that much in terms of options. So spamming is a bit hard to avoid.
I am finding the list building aspect to be enjoyable due to all of the different permutations. It reminds me a bit of XCOM or Wasteland, in how you can kit out your units to fulfil specific roles.
For my experimental orlock list I have a champion who's a heavy support gunner with munitioneer and a champion with medicae + the medicae kit as the gang field medic.
I'm sad there isn't any sniper rifles. Otherwise I would have given a ganger one. Then again, lasguns are basically sniper rifles due to their long short range (oxymoron?), so I guess I can give a ganger one to act as the gang sharpshooter.

Of course, orlocks aren't out yet, so the list is bound to undergo heavy changes. But its still a fun exercise none the less.
Still not sure what the ideal juve/ganger ratio should be. I have it on 50/50 at the moment.
