I've been living in Manhattan for a couple years now, and just started getting back into 40k. Is there anyone in New York City who plays 40k, or are there any places to play at besides Compleat Strategist and the GW store? Also, does anyone know if the GW store and Compleat Strategist are good spots to play? I've heard they're both quite small, but I buy all my stuff on line and haven't gotten a chance to actually stop by at either shop.

i live on long island and haven't played 40k much since end of 7th but i have played a bunch at the gw store. It is small and tight. Cant really play big games there and it can get crowded. I have played infinity with the dudes from nubrand in brooklyn and they are super nice. They have a tourney coming up. https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/747187.page

Also some dudes from queens play a bunch. I forgot there name but the use meetup.com and just search queens warhammer 40k.

Neat, I'll check both those out. Though Queens and Brooklyn are a hassle to get to from where I'm at. I know people always make fun of Manhattanites for never going to the Outer Boroughs, but with the subways it can take forever, especially on weekends!

Awesome! Where in Manhattan are you? Though I'm not lying when I say I literally just got back into the hobby... I have a small Ork force that I'm working on, but I have nothing painted yet. Haven't even calculated the points cost of what I've got, ha!

Yeah, definitely check out Nu Brand, but my personal favorite place to play is the Brooklyn Strategist. From Manhattan, it'll be a lot easier to get to by train and I just find that it has the complete package -- good community, cool staff, plus a nice cafe inside with decent food and even booze, etc.

Also, it's a popular place in the neighborhood for non-wargamers to go with friends to just try out some board games. You see a lot of people there on dates even. But, don't be mistaken, their big rooms and outdoor area get filled up with 5-10 tables of 40k, Warmachine and other games every weekend and evening, it seems.

Hmm I'll look into them too, thanks! What's nice is I'm starting a new job in a couple weeks that puts me a lot closer to Brooklyn, so it should be easy to check both these places out after work!
