Hi,

I know there are some local gaming communities around me (October Wargames etc) but I'm looking for just someone to play against with 40K and everyone seems friendly enough in Dakka. I have seen a tournament coming up in Bournville in a few months too, but that's all booked up.

I don't have a fully painted army of Chaos Space Marines, yet, so am a bit funny about taking some of my plastic grey minis that I haven't even primed yet to a local club. I have some full squads that are painted, but nothing for match play.

I'm still learning 8th edition and have played some games against family, but they're not really into it ( too many rules and not into the whole war thing)

The closer to B29 the better, but I'd prefer to travel in the first instance, as I don't have a 6x4 battle field yet!

My friend and I play in the area but we aren't set up ourselves (yet - I have board, he is working on terrain) so we go to Meeples Mayhem (on Sunday's they have free Wargaming sessions) or October Wargames.

We haven't played for a few months though so it's a little slow going.

You shouldn't feel intimidated about going to October Wargames, they are very friendly and cool people and certainly won't make any judgments because you're models aren't painted. I would suggest there as a first bet given your locality but I'd be happy to play you.

How many points do you have painted if that's an issue for you? Could always do smaller games if you'd rather only play with painted minis?

Hi,

Thanks for the response.

I've worked out all my points totals and I have around 2100 points and can field 3 battalions and 1 vanguard detachments. I have some chaos daemons on top of this too (a pack of furies which I want to add to) and have recently started an AM army (around 900 points). I only have a few hundred points painted (1 Chaos Lord, 10 Space marines, 8 Bezerkers, 3 Bikers, 5 Furies). I'm still painting up, and have no qualms about playing against non painted armies. I just understand that other people might though, and it is helpful to be able to make out what your enemy has over a 6 foot board.
I also have a 2800 point Space Marine army that is in varying levels of construction, including 2nd Edition stuff up to the Dark Imperium box set.

I don't have a board or table to play on really (just chuck it on the kitchen table), but I have lots of industrial and ruin themed scenery, all from TT Combat's range.

My armies:

Battallion 1 - [Death Guard] [Nurgle] - (the Dark Imperium Box set):
-HQ-
Lord of Contagion
Malignant Plaguecaster

-Elite-
Noxious Blightbringer

-Troops-
5x Plaguemarines
10x Pox Walkers
10x Pox Walkers

-Fast Attack-
Foetid Bloat-Drone

***

Batallion 2 - [Renegades]
-HQ-
Chaos Lord

-Elite-
5x Chosen
Helbrute

-Troops-
10x Cultist
10x Cultist
10x Chaos Space Marines

-Fast Attack-
3x Chaos Bikes

***

Battalion 3 - [Renegades]
-HQ-
Sorcerer

-Troops-
10x Chaos Space Marines
10x Cultists
10x Cultists

***

Vanguard Detachment - [Renegades] [Khorne]
-HQ-
Chaos Lord
Dark Apostle

-Elite-
8x Khorne Bezerkers
5x Khorne Bezerkers
5x Khorne Bezerkers

-Dedicated Transport-
Rhino

On a medium term, I'm planning on getting a gaming table into the garage and making that a bit more human friendly to play in, so hopefully I'll be able to accommodate there soon, but have no problems with driving somewhere or having people over after introductions.
