So I got Star Wars Armada for Christmas yay!

So Kyoto Secuduna and her clone sister Kyoto Secuduna Prime immediately demanded I teach them to play the Star Wars game.

They're 4...

So, yeah, looks like by Saturday I need to have a 4-year old appropriate space game.

Here's what I'm thinking:

SPACE FLEET TREK WARS QUEST

I'll use Star Wars grid map star fields and scatter a few planets with cards under them.
Each card will say what you found on the planet and how many points you get (Aliens +10 points, Crashed Spaceship +20 points etc)

Players each get a ship and roll d6 to move, unlimited turns, no diagonals.
Land on a planet, get the points.
OPTIONAL-Land on another player either make peace (+10 points) or fight (roll d6 higher roll wins) winner gets an extra turn as the loser repairs.

Thoughts? Does it balance fun and have enough to keep 2 darling little girls happy for an hour?

Loot?
As planets are searched, maybe give a model of something as the points are claimed. Points are nice and all, but getting a shinie from the loot box leads to a bit of narrative to go with it. Use them as offerings or trophies, and maybe have a roll to see if all goes well (don't roll a 1).
Throw a bit of piracy in, and attack twice in consecutive turns to claim some of that juicy loot.
Or not, if fights ensue...

Sounds good, though.

Ooo yes, we had pirate treasure from their old halloween costumes little plastic crystals. I'll have to find them.

And I was writing this I realized I owe a big debt to Iron Hands and his Star Crashers game.

A modest success, it kept the two girls quiet for a half hour so there's that. Interestingly one girl did not seem to understand the idea of turns, she kept trying to move her ship back to the start after each turn, as if the game was starting over.

There's also signs of trouble to come, the girls don't want to lose. The options then are are that I cheat to make sure games are always a tie between them (with me losing) or decide it's time for a life lesson that we all lose sometimes.

Hrm.
