Hi all! In an effort to motivate myself to finally complete an army,I figured starting a paint blog couldn't hurt! I've toyed around with the idea for a turquoise/Egyptian themed army for quite some time but never got around to painting an entire army because some other project would inevitably catch my attention.

With the release of 8th ed, and a new found interest in 40k (it feel out of favor in my gaming group when 6th ed was released) I figured it was time to finally paint up the army I've been tinkering with forever.

It's not much to start, and you'll have to excuse the mess in the background, but I think I've finally settled on a scheme I like! Thanks all for having a look, and here's to not painting 2 marines and quitting!

(Pictures in 2nd post, can't post a link in first dakka post)

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Tac marine on the right completed (less basing) Sergeant on the left nearing completion. (Still have a lot of work to do on his banner/paint the backpack)

The Colors really do look like an old fresco to me!

A small amount of progress. Not in love with the banner, but for now, it'll do as I want to progress through some more miniatures!

That's really just a happy accident, I'd be lying if I said I didn't just google Egyptian Frescoes

Last model in that 5 man tac squad. I'm pinning the gun hands on most of these models so I can swap if needed for different weapon loadouts. Will get some non-cluttered photos of these guys soon!

I must say, that scheme looks absolutely brilliant.

Thanks much! I've tinkered around with different schemes over the last 7 or 8 years. Finally have one I'm pretty stoked about, so this marine army is getting painted up. Trying to stick to the rule of cool. I usually get distracted by swapping in "better" units and get bored painting something I don't think seems fun.

Thanks again for the comments!

Bit more work done. Starting in on some Agressors, did some magnetizing of their guns as I have no idea which way I'd like to go with them.

Here's a question for anyone that might know - I've been out of the warhammer tournament/casual play scene for 5 years or so now. I'm thinking about making this into a chaos army, however I'm not in love with the khorne berzerker models, etc. If I model these regular old tac marines (or assault marines without jump packs) with chainsword/chain axe, am I going to have an issue using them as "counts as"? Would I be completely out of line doing some modeling on an agressor to someway indicate chaosy stuff and calling them obliterators? Rule of cool/easy to identify still make sense? Or is there a hard line regarding the specific model being used?

Thanks again for taking a look!

Last of the 5 man tac squad assembled.

Working on my first "berzerker" - I'll likely magnetize the backpacks to be able to swap to jump packs should I get an itch to play something different.

Thanks for having a look!
