I fell in love with the world of warhammer fantasy thanks to a friend all the way back in the days of warhammer quest. I bought a copy as soon as I got my first paycheck ever. I've never owned a warhammer fantasy army but I've always wanted one. Now for Christmas I decided to get my wife and kids into the hobby. I now have multiple armies to play with and my wife and I enjoy our modeling time together. I play high elves and have started a vampire counts army while she has decided to go the way of the wood elves, my eldest son chose the sneaky skaven and my next eldest follows the fickle winds of chaos. I have enjoyed adding new blood to my oldest hobby. I just wanted to share how I'm still enjoying the old world. Fighting epic battles across scarred and desiccated lands and capturing my families imagination with a game that always captured mine. Just wanted to share.

I love this post. I find it refreshing how you and yours have come together through such a niche setting, not to mention, one that is becoming less and less supported. You're keeping the dream alive.

I hope that this setting will see a resurgence in the coming years through families, groups of friends, and gaming clubs.

Congrats man! Keep the Old World alive! It's a real shame that GW killed it off so that they would have an easier time copyrighting the names of their settings/units. (I'm a little cynical, I know there was more to it than that)

Not only does it help keep the game alive but it provides you an opportunity for some quality time with loved ones; you can't go wrong there.

Thanks badguys! I'll definitely check them out! Elhazard. I'm gladYou like the post. It's my hope that the old world will return in due time and when that time comes my family and I will already be a step ahead of the rest!

keep in mind that if you are roleplayers, Cubicle 7 is making the new RPG for warhammer and its in the old world. so all those models are great there too.

It’s cool to see someone else with the same mindset as me. I’m sticking with 8th and am trying to get my friends and fiancé into it.

I’m in the process of building a table right now, it’s close to being finished.

On top of that I have a dark elf, high elf, warriors of chaos, Bretonnia and vampire counts army all 3000 points minimum and fully painted.

I also have a wood elf, empire and beastmen army in the works.

The goal is to have all armies at 3000 points minimum (minus tomb kings because I missed out on buying them), and 3 tables for people to play on. It’s a huge project but I hope one day it will be finished.

Kill Primaris, Kill the Primarchs. They don't belong in 40K

That is EXACTLY the plan I had, except for 6th Edition. Life got in the way and I cleared out most of my armies, so I'm starting over almost from scratch.

For 4-6th WFB, 2-5th 40k, and similar timeframe gaming

Looking for dice from the new AOS boxed set and Dark Imperium on the cheap. Let me know if you can help.

I'm glad there are more people like me out there! Brutus apex I salute you. I'm working on the family armies but I have to wait on my first table. At least I've got a realm of battle board to play on though.

Thats tough. It's always hard to restart.

I'm thinking about starting a PLOG here on the forum about the Warhammer Fantasy world project I'm doing. Maybe I'll start it after the first table is done.

Keeping others interested I think is the hardest task. I do have a couple friends who are genuinely interested in playing but not necessarily in investing time and money. I'm building a wood elf, empire and chaos warriors army for my friends since that seems to be what interests them the most. Those are first up on my docket of projects to complete. I'm sort of in the process of building up some 40K armies too, and I have a giant 30K Sons of Horus army on the go as well. It's super busy.

The Realm of Battle board is very nice. I'm currently doing a fall theme board for mine.
