FF12 is one of my favourite Final Fantasy games and I was so excited for the PC release of the remaster, but those 5 little words, "Incorporates 3rd-party DRM: Denuvo Anti-tamper" means I cannot in good conscience buy the game. This is a deal breaker for me and I assume a lot of people.

I cannot express how disappointed I am.

I had it on PS2, and I really enjoyed it - I'm not terribly tech-literate, so forgive me for asking - what does this 3rd-party DRM mean in this case - no mods?

It means running the game requires a third party software to check to make sure you didn't pirate it, hack it, etc etc which for a single player RPG is kind of hilarious. Historically they've been notorious for general annoying, false flagging people, hogging memory, and spying on you (which they really aren't supposed to do).

Kind of surprised. Reaction to 3rd party DRM is so negative, and there's much easier and less intrusive safeguards available now. Does it require 3rd party even on Steam? Steam is a DRM check by its very nature.

It basically means no mods, have to be online to play a single player game and thrashes your hard drives and damages SSDs.

Ah, that's a shame - I might have picked it up if it was just "no mods", which wouldn't bother me much, but the other downsides are dealbreakers. Shame.
