Hi

I got back to 40k for 8th edition and I'm struggling to play my Death Guard army. The main problem at the beginning was that my main force was composed of Typhus and Poxwalkers (I bought the Dark Imperium box) and I always spent 2 turns just moving and advancing with my Poxwalkers (Even with the Noxious Blightbringer) without attacking with them. I also had like 20 Cultists and some Plague Marines that had little impact (my opponent was playing Imperial Guard at the time). Only the Foetid Bloat-Drone, Helbrute and Plaguecaster did rather good. After a few games I decided to give up on the Typhus/Poxwalkers thing, moreover we stopped playing the scenario where we just had to kill each other (I don't know the english name), to play games with objectives, which require mobility.

So here's the army I played last time :

Chaos Lord (Warlord, Suppurating Plate)
Malignant Plaquecaster (Miasma of Pestilence, Putrescent Vitality)
20 cultists (9 cc weapons, 9 autoguns, 1 flamer, 1 heavy stubber)
Biologus Putrifier
7 marines (1 champion with powerfist, 6 bolters)
7 marines (1 champion with powerfist and plasma gun, 2 blight launchers, 2 bubotic axes, 2 bolters)
Foetid Bloat-Drone with plaguespitters
Helbrute with heavy bolters and missile launcher
Rhino

and my oponent used Raven Guard with (more or less) the following list :

Chaplain (jump pack)
Lieutenant (graviton, thunder hammer, jump pack)
5x Scouts (shotguns)
5x Scouts (sniper rifles)
5x Scouts (sniper rifles)
5x Vanguard (bolt pistol, chainsword, 1 sgt with thunder hammer and grav pistol, jump packs)
5x assault squad (chainsword, bolt pistol, 1 sgt with thunder hammer and grav pistol)
10x Hellblaster

And I got owned again ^^

However, I'm pretty happy with the mobility of the list. All my mobile units each managed to perform something during the game and I could secure a lot of objectives. The big unit of marines + QGs + Biologus embarked in the Rhino and charged the big cc unit of my oponent and wrecked the vanguards and lieutenant, however the chaplain managed to flee. The Drone managed to reach a unit of snipers at turn 2 and finish them. The Helbrute was quite mobile but had a particularly bad luck with dices and failed to kill the chaplain's 3W with 12 heavy bolter shots.

But in the end I still got destroyed and my opponent still had 2 of its scout units, assault squad and hellblaster while all my forces were obliterated.

I'm struggling to find how to improve my list to be efficient. We decided that we'd play 1250pts next time, I think I'm gonna play a daemon prince with wings, and probably two Bloat Drones. Could you help develop my list?

Bloat drones and the winger DP will help. Plague Drones would help. Nurgling screen might help some. You also look like you could use some ranged punch to take out hard targets.

He knows that I know and you know that he actually doesn't know the rules at all.

note you don't have to footslog Typhus - deep strike him turn 2 or 3 where you need him, poxwalkers or not. blightlords are slow as nurgle hell but timely deep striking them to the right position gives you some tactical edge ... also consider taking cultists in a CSM alpha legion detachment along with a sorceror on jump pack to get access to warptime and Forward operatives stratagem for better mobility and area denial...

Yep I'll add a Predator and a Helbrute for long range firepower. I plan on adding a CSM detachment and I don't think I can add another one for Nurglings (cause they don't have the Death Guard keyword), however I'm interested in doing another list with demons instead of CSMs. Are Nurglings really that good? They seem weak on paper, how do you play them?

Yep but that leaves poxwalkers with S3T3 until he deepstrikes

If he's shooting your poxwalkers he's not shooting something else.
In my opinion that's the point of poxwalkers. They're so slow they're incredibly easy for an opponent to avoid, but with disgustingly resilient and no moral tests they take some effort to remove. So use them to soak up fire. If they make it into melee great, if not they probably diverted a lot of firepower.
I almost think typhus buff to poxwalkers is a trap. Hes so good even without that and probably better used ignoring that buff unless you happen to get him near them late game by happenstance.

Definitely need some heavy guns. I suggest helbrute with las and missile. We have a huge buff to our helbrutes because they don't take penalties to movingly and shooting.

Nurglings don't kill things, but they are a nice tarpit and distraction for the first two rounds. They are also good as area denial and to sit on objectives. If you build a list around them with Epidemius, and some of the new herolds they also become killy, but then you're not playing DG anymore .
