Hello everyone, I recently took an interest in Napoleonic miniatures however I am a bit concerned with operating the system, specifically Black Powder in 28mm scale. Are the rules for Warlord Games, Black Powder applicable to 6mm or should I be looking elsewhere?

Also can anybody recommend some detailed 6mm napoleonic minis? I so far have only been viewing the Blucher models.

I have both Adler and Baccus figures.

Baccus are good. Adler are good. Adler maybe has the edge -- they are big for 6mm which allows a bit more detail.

The detail on a 6mm is so minor anyway, especially once you hit 40 years old, that I don't think it makes much difference.

The key point about 6mm is to base them en masse, like these Baccus 6mm based for Polemos Marechal de l'Empire.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Hey man thanks for the response, those look lovely by the way.
So as long as I base them properly I could use them for Black Powder? It’s the space and price that a larger scale has me concerned.

Black Powder/Hail Caesar/Pike & Shotte uses 'unit bases' of a given size rather than individual models. So it doesn't actually matter, strictly speaking, if your models on the 'unit' is 28mm models and represents a company or it's 6mm models and represents a battalion. As long as the 'unit base' is within the recommended dimensions, it'll work fine.

You might want to consider 'tweaking' move speeds and ranges if you think it looks too silly - in which case just use the same distance in cm not inches. The rules still work perfectly well, and a much easier-to-manage 4'x4' board becomes big enough for awesome major battles.

The Polemos rules also use a unit base width as the standard unit of measurement.

The base for Marechal de l'Empire is 60mm square. The base for General de Division (the smaller battle rules, which are in the same book) is 60mm wide by 30mm deep.

You can make the base any size, and put any size figure on it, and the rules will still work proportionately.

I chose the 60mm square base because I was mainly interested in large battles. My Russian army is large enough to fight Borodino.

I want to add that I never painted the figures in my photos. My eyesight is too poor at my age, and I sent them to a painting service.

6mm will work great for Black Powder. I recommend you just use cm instead of inches and keep everything else the same.

You could do 60mm wide bases and use 3 of them for a standard batallion. That makes your standard units 18cm long, same as musket range, which is about right. Then large units can be 4 bases and small 2 bases if you want.

Black Powder will work for 6mm as it is scale and base agnostic.

Blucher is also a good 6MM game.

Confirm that in 6mm detail is not so important as in bigger scales, Basing is much more important since the tiny models allow to build little dioramas on every base.
