The Ruins of the Boston Commonwealth

Hello there! I've been playing a crap ton of Warhammer Total War and it's kinda gotten me to want to collect some Orruk models. Not really to play, just so much as to enjoy making and painting and displaying. There for I really don't really care for how good an army I've got, just interested in some models.

So to start I've got a few questions.
1) Why the blazes would I buy a box of Gore Gruntas instead of The Start Collecting box for Ironjawz? Gore Gruntas are $79 USD where as the Starter box is $85 and both come with three Gore Gruntas, but the Start Collecting box comes with a lot more other stuff. Are their limited pieces to put them together? Or what's the deal?

2) Should I buy standard Orruks or is there a chance they'll be updated with newer prettier models soon?

3) Once again, why should I buy Ironjawz Brutes instead of the Weirdnob box? Again, only $15 more for a ton more stuff? Why would I just buy the brutes when I could get them and a good deal more for a little more money?

4) Are there any third party Orcs that look like Orruk Boys? Or Iron Jawz?

5) I use the AoS names, but they will always be Orcs to me, Black orcs, orc boys, etc.

6) Any places you know that have good deals on Ironjawz stuff outside Ebay?

Vigo. Spain.

1) Theres literally no reason. Buy the Start Collecting box.
2) I don't think so. Probably Ironjawz will be expanded in the future but don't expect new models for old model lines from the Old World.
3) The exact same answer than 1.
4) http://www.shieldwolfminiatures.com/index.php?dispatch=categories.view&category_id=70

Their orcs are more like savage orcs (Bonnespliterz), and theirs heads are very different from GW ones, but the plastic kit is very very nice.

5) Agree.
6) For USA I can't help you sorry.

Dakka does have White Knights and is also rather infamous for it's Black Knights. A new edition brings out the passionate and not all of them are good at expressing themselves in written form. There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

1. Because the actual casting of a model or a kit costs next to nothing to GW , Their costs are more tied up to the pre-production process. If they can get you to spend more money no matter how much plastic they throw at you without losing the face of a premium miniatures manufacturer they win every time. Hence why the start collecting kits exist... It is mainly a hyperbole so don't get caught in it, but GW can easily charge 40 quid for the gruntas and 41 for the start collecting kit and I bet it wouldn't even mean that much to them... There are many reasons why GW prices are like that, but the shortest answer could be that they are priced so that each one is profitable and its audience will buy it.
2. No one knows. My bet is that they won't be updated or if they are only the black orks would benefit. Who knows though...
3. See 1.
4. Avatars of war comes to mind.
5. OK
6. The well known big online retailers - element and firestorm - offer up to 15% off RRP. You can watch for things on sale to get things at 25% off. Their inventory have been seriously cut down since, lets say, 2016 though (for some reason)... For US? Probably wayland - I don' know really...

For 1 and 3, if you only need the Gore Gruntas or Brutes to fill out your army and don't really need other models, no reason to spend the extra $6 for models you don't need or don't have room to store. In general, though, just get the extra models. You can always sell them on eBay.

2000 Khorne Bloodbound (Skullfiend Tribe- Aqshy)
1000 Tzeentch Arcanites (Pyrofane Cult - Hysh) in progress
2000 Slaves to Darkness (Ravagers)

Thank you for your responses!

My thoughts were on basic orcs, like Orc Boys and whatnot, it say the models are out of stock right now, which in the past has led to new models on a few occasions. I just wanted a consensus as to that. I'm gonna start with Ironjawz but I want to get some generic orcs at some point too

As for the start collecting box, I think I'll order that off somewhere this week and see where it takes me.

The Start Collecting boxes are the way to go and you can get them on Ebay for less than the $85. msrp, which makes the deal even better. Beyond that, I've got a ton of NOS/NIB Orc stuff available. Drop me a PM of what you're interested in and I'll send over a quote. I've got a rather lengthy post in the Swap Shop and a lot of stuff available that isn't listed, so send over a wish list and I'll see what I can do to help with the Waaagh!

If you don't mind me chipping in with a related question:

How would one go about playing Orruks without Ironjaws in AoS?

Something like Grimgork Ironhide, Black orcs, Boar Boys and Stone Lobbas - are these models represented in the rules and will they not get inevitably tabled by newer factions?
