I recently just moved to Portland and I would like to find some fellow 40k players. I used to play back in 3rd & 4th edition and after several years absent from the hobby I've decided to pick it up again. I don't really know the area here well or that many people as of yet so it would be awesome to find someone pick up a few games with and to get input about the local LGS's.

I highly suggest checking out Guardian Games. Huge store with a lot of selection and looked to have a great deal of play space. Every trip up there (we live about 3.5 hours south) always is too short to see all the stuff or to get any gaming in.

Here's their gaming calendar. It lists a 40k league and AoS league along with a bazillion other things.

Thanks for the recommendation! I'll be sure to take some time to visit GG and see how it is. The store itself isn't my biggest concern, mostly interested in finding a solid gaming group with people that are enjoyable to play with.

If you don’t mind a little commute there is a pretty decent gaming scene at Borderlands Games in Salem.

Plenty of 40k players, ranging from casual to pretty competitive. Easy enough to find a game and they run a tournament every month.

Mid Valley Wargamers group on Facebook might be a good spot to start, as there are a fair few Oregon players on there

The Viletide: Daemons of Nurgle/Deathguard: 7400 pts
Disclples of the Dragon - Ad Mech - about 2000 pts
GSC - about 2000 Pts
Rhulic Mercs - um...many...
Circle Oroboros - 300 Pts or so
Menoth - 300+ pts

Welcome to Rose City 40K!

Dice Age Games in Vancouver has Monday night 40K, and most of 'em show up on Saturdays as well. 5-10 peeps.

Guardian Games runs a monthly 40K League every Wednesday night, starts around 6:00pm until close. Usually 12-20 people show up. Has a weekly buy in, like $5. The last weekend of the month, they will run a 40K tournament, with the top three splitting the League pot in store credit. Tournaments usually have 20+ people show up.

Red Castle Games has 40K on Saturdays, not sure on the turn out for that one.

There is also the Ordo Fanaticus Wargaming Club. They rent out a loft space a couple blocks away from Guardian Games, and usually have a game night Tuesday, Thursday, and Satruday/Sunday. It's a gaming club though, and it has dues to use the space and terrain. They also run the OFCC Gaming Convention in July (couple hundred people from all over the US).

That doesn't even include the other game stores in the Portland/Vancouver area. You could probably play a game of 40K every night of the week in this area.

Oh, I also forgot the GW Portland store.

Again, welcome, and I hope to see you across the table some time!

Thanks for the welcome and all the info, Tamwulf!

From what you've said it looks like deciding to pick up the hobby when I moved here was ideal timing. I stay in NE Portland so Vancouver is just a brief drive away and I'll be sure to check out some of LGS's and groups there. Have you ever played any games with the Ordo fanaticus group? I like the idea of the wargaming club but as I'm just getting back into it I'm moreso interested in sticking with lighthearted/casual games for the moment.

My army will be playable soon so maybe we can meet up for a game at one of the LGS's sometime!

The club in Portland is Ordo Fanaticus. They do twice a week at a central location called WOW (Western Oregon Wargamers).

Went by WOW (western Oregon wargamers) which is the clubhouse for Ordo Fanaticus. Seems pretty rad so I'm thinking I'll probably join. On another note Guardian Games is really rad too and is by far the largest FLGS I've ever stepped foot in.

Glad to hear it Kakos! Did you play in the 40K tournament on Saturday (March 10th) at Guardian Games?

There is another tournament at Fate and Fury games in Vancouver on March 24th collecting food and clothing for a local charity. Dice of Fury #2 I'll be at Adepticon, or otherwise I'd be there.

And there are some 40K events going on at the Oregon Coast Comic Con March 24th-25th.
