Now wait begins for Blood Angels
Lovely model. Almost makes me regret not starting fist rather than blood angels(though I hate painting yellow). If I start next loyalist legion it's high chance it's this. White scars would be other but I hate painting white even more, world eaters are next traitors in line so 2 whites and not sure how Khan could top this one.

Alpharius will be the next model released (FW have said they've taken a step back to complete models that have had rules but no model for a while)

Yeah, thought that, too.
Lovely model, though. But I guess you could relatively easily switch the blade out.

Don't get me wrong, I think it looks great too, but I'd think the folks a FW would give Dorn something akin to an upscaled Primarch sized Heavy Chainsword for him.
Something like how Kharn has Gorechild.

Anybody going to the weekender fancy being a bro and sorting me out?

To be fair a lot of his chainsword is lot as the hilt of it sort of blends into his armour.
Given the size of a primarch that chainsword is still probably the size of a human if not bigger.

I've always had a soft spot for the Fists. I think it's the name and raw deal they got in the beast arises series.
I love this model. It is one of the best yet in my opinion. Perfect for the primarch without going OTT. Fantastic piece.

They really need to, adding new models (like last year's wave of siciran varients) whilst long established options go unusable is ridiculous. How many options that had rules in 6th ed still don't have models? Needs prioritizing.

Well on flipside assuming they have multiple sculptors and say one who's generally doing primarch then tank variants don't necessarily slow primarch down anyway. If primarch aren't sculpts anybody in house can do then not having person X doing primarch doesn't really slow those down anyway. And doing variant tanks is lot easier anyway especially if they do those on 3d.

@tneva82 I understand that, and that is the case. That isn't a justification though, having only one sculptor capable of doing characters/primarchs is setting themselves up for a repeat of what happened with Alan Bligh and the rules. There should be at least a couple of people capable of seeing a project through to the end, which would happen sooner with more hands.

The chain sword could of been bigger but then again if its supposed to be one handed then it may make sense considering it does go up chest high to a normal marine.
the handle makes it look like it should be two handed though which is confusing.
everything else is perfect imho (besides the face so far. it might be the paint work. which they havent been on point with recently.)

They've said only 2 primarchs this year, and they're releasing Angelus this year. There is no way they released Russ ahead of book 7, with Magnus right after, and they're going to do a zero primarch release with book 8.
Next one is going to be Johnson or Sanguinius.

I waited a long time for this day to come and I am happy Dorn turned out the way he did. I was afraid they were going to over do the eagle behind his head or have a trash pose, this is perfect in my opinion. I was kind of hoping he would wield a hammer but the chainsword looks pretty cool. It maybe a little too small but at least they didn't out do that aswell and make it look like a ridiculous Final Fantasy sword. He looks ornate and he's not too busy or sloppy. Overall I am really excited that my patience paid off and I cant wait to purchase Dorn and paint him up nice to sit with my 30k and 40k Imp Fists.

Neither a Fists player or even much of a fan of theirs, but this is a lovely model and really hits the nail on the head with pose and attitude for the 'immovable object' that is Rogal 'you shall not fething pass' Dorn.

Looks good overall, but sword blade is too short.
Should have used some of the hilt length for more blade.

Not sold on the face (he looks kind of cross-eyed) and they may have gone overboard with the cloak (dramatic wind blasting it off at a 90-degree angle seems like a bit much).
The rest of the model works pretty well, though. The proportions on the sword are a bit off but they do sort of emphasize how big he is (he's got something that's bigger than a two-handed Executioner or Chainglaive off a normal Marine and it looks like a side-sword for him), and the armour does a good job of being ornate and baroque without looking silly.

I'm thinking it's a bastard chainsword, hence the shorter length but hilt capability to switch to two hand, as he's usually out and about duel wielding with the bolter.

I was thinking a little green stuff and clever painting and you can make it look like his chainsword is inserted in the stone at his feet. EXCALIBUR!
