Okay, so I know that summoning units like a unit of 10 Bloodletters from their spell scroll costs the points of a 10-man unit. I get that. How do things work with the new Contagion point list for the Maggotkin book, when you can summon a 5-man Plaguebearer unit by spending 7 contagion points? There isn't a point cost for a 5-man unit. Or how about when you use one of the abilities that lets you add models back to the unit? Like one of the heal D3 wounds/models back to the unit? I can't imagine spending 100+ points to heal 3 Plaguebearers back into a unit; that's insanity. I have the first GHB, but not the 2017 version-does the 2016 version address it the same way, or is it different?

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

You dont spend reserve points for existing units. So healing models withiin existing units doesn't cost anything.

Creating units, however, always costs reserve points (in matched play).

Based on RAW, if you only have the option for a 10-man unit, and you field less models than those 10, you still pay for the 10-man unit.

So if you bring on 5 plaguebearers you'd pay the cost for 10 of them in matched play as it stands right now unless there is some other wording that has not been revealed that I am not aware of.

I have no books in front of me so I don't know what the matched play points are for plague bearers, so just going off of the assumption that they come in units of 10 instead of 5.

The Contagion Points system doesn't feel like they actually considered how it would work in Matched Play (which, sadly, is no surprise, Matched Play still seems to be an afterthought in rules development with AOS).

As a "house rule" until it gets FAQed, I'd be ok with doing something like adjusting the actual Reserve Points expenditure to meet the unit sizes on the Contagion Points table (so, e.g., half the cost of a 10 man unit of Plague Bearers for the 5 man unit entry via Contagion Points). Sadly, though, right now there's no "official" answer that I can find. I might ping them on Facebook, but they don't usually give official answers there, but it might make it into the next errata.

Yeah, that's what it looks like, RAW. So it'd be 100 Reserve Points for either 5 or 10 Plaguebearers, though the Contagion Points cost is different between the two.
