So we just started playing Wild West Exodus, we did an unboxing for WarCradle on WWX Gunfight at Red Oak, then we painted them up and got to play! I would like to see who else has played and what you thought about the game, it's system, and the models? Here's the unboxing and showcase of the finished models too.

i like it.
i find it a little bit heavy in the special rules area which leads to lots of book flipping.
i like the action system though and the general mechanics of game play.

I played a lot of the first edition, but haven't gotten around to getting or trying the second edition rules. I really should since I have a decent amount of models painted up (Lawmen and Warrior Nation) and have all the crap from the first KS still.

Yeah good point, although when I play WH40k or something I feel like I'm in the book the first few turns half the time, haha!

The models are really awesome, loving the quality now. You already some of the models, you should play for sure!

The first edition, despite its faults, was my main wargame. Big backer of both Kickstarters and bought a bunch outside those projects as well. So please forgive the following rant; I may just be a little bitter about the thousands of dollars I feel I've wasted on this game.

I don't like the new rules, and I'm selling all my models (if I can actually get any interest in them). The new version of the rules may be an okay game for some, but not for me. I don't have time or room for what I like to call a "lifestyle" ruleset (i.e., it will require constant reference and updates to know the rules and play without always looking things up or checking the web for updated stats). Interestingly enough, this very thing was one that Warcradle claimed as a reason the first edition was bad. Now the rules are warmahordes/infinity-esque and they keep changing. The fluff and look went from sci-fi wild west to mostly sci-fi with a seemingly unending horde of homage models in the works. Thundercats in the wild west? Really? I mean I like Thundercats, but not with Wyatt Earp. Again, just not for me. Really, really disappointed that the game I loved so much has undergone such drastic change.

Sorry for the rant. Opinions were asked for, so I gave mine. Others will have better ones, and ultimately each of us must decide what fits our hobby.

Yes, played many times and a big fan! Was a backer of both kickstarters and currently own everything in the range (makes it easy to find opponents when they can use your minis, and then buy their own later if they like the game). Minis are great! Plastic minis remind me of kingdom death minis, resins are great! They make great display pieces.

Loved first edition. Unique, alternate history with real characters from history, heavy western theme... very fun!! Liked that is it was a mix between 40k and a smaller skirmish game like WOK. Very thematic and it bled through into gameplay. Focua was on RJ and how it was changing the world into a more sci fi setting. Some balance issues but not a big deal if you played casual fluffy games.

Second edition is good too, but it is a different game. Not really western anymore, as it's become more of a global game (lost some named characters, or they got changed). RJ and corruption changed a bit too. Now aliens are the influence and world police. Small scale skirmish with quick games... things die quickly.

Both games are good but are very different. My suggestion is buy a last roundup pack so you have the rule cards for 1st edition. Then you can play either edition if you get into the game and double the usefulness of your models

I like the game and have had quite a bit of fun with both systems.

Never gave it a glance, and I'm a massive Old West fan. The ever-increasing steampunk nature was a turn off, but predominantly the 35mm proprietary scale killed it dead amongst all the Old West gamers I know.

The beauty of any Old West game is that you can build a town, buy some Cowboys and play about a dozen superb games, and you're not tied to one. Now introduce 35mm which don't work with any other ranges or any of the building ranges currently (or previously) popular and you're a sinking stone.

Starting to get excited about this game...I can't wait until Ash and Owen start playing it. That might kickstart the whole thing.

I was in on the first Kickstarter and got lots of stuff, but I've never played. I assembled the wayward 8 and that's about as far as I got.

I enjoyed playing the first game (played Warrior Nation because they had super-powered cavalry that could shoot through terrain), although it definitely had some growing pains.

I'm intrigued by the new edition, though I'm wary of Warcradle's attempts to fold WWX into the wider Dystopian world/games.

I can see a pretty easy link between Exodus and the Dystopian Wars stuff, actually. Lots of aesthetics comparisons, too.

I'm trying to find Wild Bill Hickock lawman, but it's impossible to find him anywhere in the States. I think they are phasing a lot of the older minis out which is a shame. Sometimes simpler sculpts are better than overloaded ones(my tastes anyway).

I have two of him, one that is based/primed (keeping it) and another that is just assembled.

I'm in Wisconsin, pm if interested.

Yea agree about the sculpts. I bought everything 1st edition the second it was released. 2nd edition is changing the aesthetics of the game too... I've bought most but it's no longer an instant buy (esp without production stat cards, tons of special rules again, complicated list building, and constantly updating rules...)

I emailed Wayland Games, Community Support and they said to keep an eye on their social media pages for updates, and ways to pickup out of print items in the future.

I love the thought of this game and I'm just baffled why it isn't exploding here in the states.
