I've played 40k for a while now and I love the universe but I can't help but feel that there is more to the game outside of unpainted grey cheese lists my opponents continue to present me with. I think back to an old DnD group I used to be in and I loved it! Was doing some research and found that 40k had a few DnD books as well. However, what is the best one for me? I'm looking for something on the smaller scale (not intergalactic gotta save the emperor large but not helping an old cadian vet cross the road small) where I can be anything (marine, inquisitor, ork, demon, ect...). I know a game called Inquisitor had something like this but see almost no reviews or stuff for it.

In addition, not only have I never been a GM but I don't think I would even know anybody now to play this with regularly so does anyone have a link or contact to players who do 40k DnD campaigns regularly online or on tabletop simulator?

Well there's the FFG books, you've got one where your group is part of an inquisitor's warband as Acolytes (Dark heresy, two editions), one where you are a grunt in the Imperial Guard (Only War) one where you are evil Chaos warband with Humans and Space Marines (Black Crusade), one where you and your party are space traders/pirates/privateers (Rogue Traders, this is the only one that allows Xenos Mercenaries as party member), and one where you Space Marines in the elite Deathwatch sent out to deal with Xenos (Death Watch)
