I have not played any D&D for ages, but I recently picked up the three 5th ed core books (PH, DMG, and MM) and I've been playing around with creating an original campaign world. One of the things I'm currently puzzling over is the distribution of the non-player Humanoid races.

Currently, my world has two major continents, and 3-4 minor continents. In trying to give each a somewhat different "flavor" I thought I'd split the non-player humanoid races up into different areas. I'm trying to keep related types of humanoids grouped together.

Major Continent #1 - This is a generally temperate, European culture area, and I was planning on making Orcs the dominant non-player race, supplemented by Ogres.

Major Continent #2
- This is a generally tropical, Middle-Eastern/Indian culture area, and I was planning on making Hobgoblins the dominant non-player race, supplemented by goblins and bugbears.

Minor Continent #1 - This is a generally temperate, High Elf culture area, and I admit I'm not sure what might work with this theme?

Minor Continent #2 - This is generally a sub-tropical Oriental (Japanese and Chinese) culture area, and I was planning on including Kenku (based on the fact that they remind me of Japanese Tengu). Not sure what else might fit here?

Minor Continent #3 - This is a boreal, Norse culture area, other than Trolls, I'm not sure what to place here?

Anyone who knows a bit more about the humanoid races, and wants to offer some suggestions to fill in the demographics of my world, I welcome the input! Thanks!
