Hey all,

I'm an old time hobbyist who has returned to the flock in the last year-and-a-bit. Used to be active in other hobby forums back in the day, but the landscape has changed and so here I am. I've been lurking the boards for a while but never quite got around to registering until today.

I won't go into my full GW history here, but in brief I turned up at my new school when I was 11, made new mates who introduced me to 40k (this was 3rd ed). Excited young me was raring to go collecting Biel-Tan with my first guardian squad and a couple of jetbikes, before my mum promptly banned me from buying any more models due to the price. Met a new gamer friend when I started university, who got me into WHFB and I got back into the hobby in a big way with fair sized collections of High Elves, Orcs and Goblins, Lizardmen, a homebrew Astartes chapter and a Plague Fleet for BFG - though how I managed that on a student budget I'm not sure. Then after a few years drifted back out of it again and packed all that lot away.

Come the end of 2016 and that same friend from uni was showing me some Deathwatch sprues and I was immediately hooked once more. For the last year I've been collecting and painting Salamanders and a few Deathwatch of my own - and I'm just finally returning after all these years to my first hobby love - Biel-Tan. I don't know why I didn't do it sooner! I'll try not to get too burned out on all the green, between the marines and the eldar. (And before anybody says it, no I'm not going to do Orks next!)

I'm much more of a collector/painter/modeller than a gamer, but even so I love a good discussion on just about any aspect of 40k so I may well crop up all over the place.

See you on the boards...

Hey and welcome!

Sounds like a really complicated relationship with GW hobbies, hehe.

I hope that you have a nice time on the forums and share some pictures of your collection!

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka

Yeah, quite the complicated relationship indeed. I could probably spin a fair tale of how it shaped my love of Biel-Tan and which particular Eldar styles I like - but I think that may be for an intro to a painting thread - once I get a bit more painting done. The furthest any of my new crop of Eldar have got is primer thus far.
