But since it's fallen to the 3rd page already, I figured I start a new thread for this specific question.
This is my Rhino/Razorback:

I don't play Marines outside of small games with my kids. While making some lists to balance with other lists, it occurred to me that a Predator might be a good option, but I am not going to buy another model.
So I plan to eBay 2 Lascannons and magnetize them to the Razorback for a Quad-Lascannon Pred.
Obviously this is for games at home so I can model it however I like.

However I got me curious how the community would feel about this in a regular game.
So, would you have an issue with a Razorback modeled with a 4 Lascannon turret (instead of sponsons) as a 'counts as' Predator?
Since 8E doesn't measure or use LoS from the weapon, this shouldn't be an issue, especially since both are on the same chasis.

Since the whole concept of fire arcs is out of the window for 8th, do it. It's a new pattern of Predator.

Personally, I wouldn't bat an eyelid.

The Predator is based on the RH1N0 hull in any case and different forgeworlds have different penchants for their vehicles - as long as approved by Mars and within STC compliance.

I dont see any issues, a Predator is inherently just a modified Rhino like a Razorback. There are no LoS or size issues, I dont see why anyone would have a problem.

I'd say definitely go for it. I would say a lot of FLGS tournaments wouldn't care either, especially if the model is completely painted.

Well since the only difference between the two warmachines is a turret and a couple sponsors then I don't see why you couldn't use the model as both.

In fact, if you can magnetize all the options you'll have a model that can be a Rhino, a Razorback and Predator!

Indeed that would be the plan. If you notice on my photo, I already have it magnetized to swap between and Rhino or Razorback, including swapping Twin Assault cannons for Twin Lascannons.
To make it into a Predator, I will simple magnetize 2 additional lascannons to the left and right sides of the existing Twin las turrent.

Yep, I don't see any reason why not to.

I started my Rhino-Russ project for simply having Rhinos...then I bought some turrets and magnetized sponsons...then I built a siege mortar and magnetized a dozer blade to make a vindicator, and recently I ordered a rocket launching system to make a Scorpius. Chassis + magnets = tons of possibilities. Currently sitting on three chasses and I might want to make a fourth, but it's nice to be able to run any combination of tanks/armour.

I did not notice the photo! Haha, sorry my mental capacity is divided between holding my back straight so it doesn't hurt and chewing bubblegum apparently!

Now that I have, nice work! For me a lot of my willingness to proxy is directly related to how good the proxy looks. As long as someone is taking the time to make the proxy believable then it's totally fine. Some people might balk at the idea of a Predator with a Razorback gun up top, but that's just silly. I say go for it, even in games with more serious players! Chances are people will just notice the clean paint, which I'm assuming the rest of your army is blessed with, and not get hung up on whether or not you paid GW for the right turret.

If you want to get extra creative, make a 4 lascannon turret predator like some of the modern naval battle ship cannons.

The requirement to use sponsons has been waived altogether, it's just the kit comes with them as the entries are "Has x/y lascannons'

I've always kinda hated the Predator Sponsons. They're so low to the ground.

I've just made my order and I ended up getting the actual Predator lascannons (although not the sponson bits). It should be an easy magnetization to the outer sides of the Twin lascannon turrent

I used to take commissions, yes. But only for people I know/meet in person. Shipping stuff back and forth makes me nervous and I don't like taking payment until the job is done.

That kinda makes me sad. I just ordered the Lascannons alone for $14 (total including shipping).
For $1 more I could have had the sponsons and other bits too.
Oh well. I'm sure I'll get mine faster than ordering them from GW.

Now what you need to do, obviously, is make some lascannon sponsons so you have have a 6 lascannon predator.
