Hi Folks,

I bought my first Dungeons & Dragons miniatures at a hippy bookstore in Fairbanks, Alaska, somewhere around 1977. We didn't have any wargaming rules, so my friends and I would just stage pitched battles with whatever random lead minis we had in our collections, using the D&D system for combat.

Then one of us got a copy of Sword and Spells, which introduced us to formations, morale, and other wargaming concepts. We also played a bunch of the TSR RPGs and chit-based wargames. (Sure wish I had kept my copy of Divine Right.)

Bought myself a copy of Rogue Trader and Blood Bowl in the 1980s, then gradually phased out of actual gaming for a couple of decades. Started collecting figures again when eBay and Craig's List became a thing. Got some things super cheap, and wildly overpaid for others, so it's probably about even. (I tell myself.)

Getting back into tabletop gaming now and having a blast. Glad to be here. Thank you much.

Hello and welcome to Dakka!

The seventies... that's a long time ago. It's cool that there are still gamers around who started out back then. I hope you'll like it here, and that you'll never stop playing games.

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka
