When Nucromunda launched a couple months ago, GW posted a free PDF summarizing gang info for Orlocks, Cawdor, Van Saar and Delaque.
These legacy gangs were not available with the core game launch.

I thought this was a pretty cool thing for them to do. That way veteran players could use their old minis to play the new game.
And it was still a win for GW since a $125 starter game was required to play with the free PDF.
GW didn't make the core rulebook available separately so the starter is currently the only way to get the rulebook via retail.

Gang War 2, the next supplement, features the Orlocks as well as additional campaign and other info like new weapons.
GW took down and/or edited the free PDF of legacy gangs and removed the Orlocks.
GW2 will be available this coming weekend so folks will have to buy the supplement, hope they downloaded while the getting was good or hope their buddies did.

What do you guys think about this move?

It doesn't bother me, that PDF was a temp solution so people can use their collections right away. The new Orlock rules can still be used with the old models. But each gang is being revamped rule and stat wise to fit in better with the modernized rules and give them more options. The legacy rules were going to become outdated regardless as each gang gets it's revamp.

It is correct to remove get-you-by rules once the full rules are out, you do not want the confusion of two rulesets floating about for the same models.

Our group is pretty laid back. For example, we allow people to play their Primaris or DG using the mini-dexes that came in Dark Imperium or to use their 8th edition index even if a codex has been released.

We'll be allowing legacy Orlock rules to continue or players can update to the new rules if they want to buy GW2. The game is already pretty fragmented so it seems like it won't worsen anything since we kind of police ourselves if stuff seems too OP.

The plan was always to do this. You can run a campaign to the end of a ... "season" or whatever they call it and then start a fresh gang with the new rules (or house-rule some sort of equivalence if you wish to bring old gang members back).

Strangely, the old version and new version are up simultaneously...

Shame they did not take the opportunity to update boltguns and heavy stubbers.

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

Neither Goliaths nor Eschers were included in the original legacy gang document because they were part of the main game/GW1. The Orlocks aren't legacy any more now that GW2 is out. When GW3 hits, we'll see another gang dropped from the pdf. The Orlocks pdf list sucks compared to the GW2 list so I'm not sure why you'd want to keep using it anyway.

To save $30 s why.

If you want to save 30$, I'd use the leaked photos of the Orlock house list over the pdf. In fact I'd use anything rather than the pdf, it's bad on so many levels.
