So ive recently been gifted with 100 mantic zombies which has been wonderful for AoS and HoR but I was thinking about how i could use them for 40K. I know this isin't the list building forum but is it reasonable to build a death guard army around these guys?following that, any advice for units i should pair with these guys would be greatly apreciated.

Also im aware that in 8th theyre Poxwalkers but plague zombie is how i remember them from 7th

Pox Walker is just their easily trademarked name for em. I call them Zombies all the time, and my opponents think there's a different unit...

Pox walkers are useful as screens. I keep them fanned out to prevent shooty Deepstrikers and Infiltrating melee units from getting too choppy too soon.

Their biggest advantage (imo) is being Mindless.

They can be buffed up into a decent threat with Typhus, or a Plague Caster and Psychic Powers (Blades, and Putrescent Vitality) to become a decent threat (coupled with VOTLW) but, IMO its alot of investment in rules interaction.

Also, a fun list is the Poxwalker farm, where Cultist screens in front of the zombies, get killed, and just feed the farm with the Death will Walk, and Cloud of Flies strategem, creating more poxwalkers that way. Again, its an investment. I would reccomend a Tallyman (and to a lesser, a Blightbringer) for these lists, due to the CP investment, and the re-rolls to hit.

Lately I just take my Pox walkers as troops tax for a battalion, one or two large units, and one small unit and use them to speedbump things for my Daemon Princes and more heavy hitters and to create area denial for Deepstrikers. Lately, as a more flexable farm, if I get into a mixed melee with the Princes and Daemon units, with Pox Walkers nearby I'll drop the Dead Walk strategem then, so any kills the Princes get, will feed the farm that way.

They arent going to be the main work horse, but they are still valuable.

I run a melee heavy list with 20 plague marines, and 2 20 man Poxwalker units. Backed up by Typhus, Necrosius, Tallyman, and a Noxious Blightbringer they are scary. The things that tend to do well against them I use the Plague Marines against. They are one of the better anti-horde units I have found in the game, and with the Dead Walk stratagem you can even move them to 1 " of an enemy unit, shoot that unit with you Plague Marines, and then get the extra bodies from that before you charge. I did that to an opponent where I had 12 Pox left going into 60 gaunts (multi charged 2 units of Hormagaunts) and by the time my turn came around again the gaunts were all dead and I had all of my models on the table moving towards the next target.

All of that awesomeness in mind... they are super slow. So you need to have other things that can herd your enemy or just bring a gak load and hope some make it.
