I'm needing some black primer, I've used Krylon before but not the paint + primer kind. Any feedback on this kind?

Eh, it works okay. Not great in my experience. I know a lot of people swear by Duplicolor.

I have it in blue. It can be difficult to paint over when you have to put other colors on, or add highlights.

Yes. Dupli-color Sandable Primer is all that I use and have never had a problem with it.

That stuff works pretty well. Just make sure you get flat or ultra flat.

Isn't it an oil based enamel?

In general oil based enamels don't make great primers for acrylics because firstly they have a much lower surface energy (acrylics are more likely to bead up rather than spread nicely over them) and secondly because the enamel wants to outgas which can potentially be inhibited by the acrylic, leaving a situation where the enamel doesn't cure properly under the acrylic.

Are you referring to the automotive sandable primer?

Yes. It is the best miniature primer I've ever used for plastic, resin and metal.
