A simple question, can you use tide of traitors to pull a unit of cultists out of combat? Sure ive seen this answered before but cant find a faq/thread on it.

You can. The Stratagem states:

"Use this Stratagem at the end of your movement phase. If you do, pick a unit of Chaos Cultists and remove it from the battlefield. You can then set it up again wholly within 6 inches of the edge of the battlefield and more than 9 inches from any enemy models, at its full starting strength."

There is nothing in the Stratagem that limits the choice of unit, so taking a unit out of combat is completely legal.
