So how are other DG players making these Blightlord Terminators?

Not sure if GW makes a kit other than the EZ build dudes and since you only get four...

I grabbed some Chaos Termies and I'm gonna use them instead. I just used the axes as by bubonic axes and turned the power maul into an axe as well. Aside from the Champion, who can't take any stuff, they all have axes aside from the one dude who got the reaper cannon, he got the mutation arm. His axe is on the gun!

So, one power fist aside, these dudes look the part, after some nurgling that is! How are other people building their Blightlords? And is the rule of cool more important than having WYSIWYG?

Yeah there was a specific multiparty kit released recently, as well as the easy to build.

That depends where he plays. Here WYSIWYG is pretty much not dead so apart from stuff like grenades or laspistols you start with you better have WYSIWYG or don't show up in tournaments.

Well seeing as how GW has a hard-on for monopose junk right now I'd rather make my own Blightlord Terminators... Blighties!

Seriously though, anyone at all liking the new kits? I can't stand how GW is making multipart kits now, I'll bet those official Blighties are just barely one step up from the EZ build kits. And Plague Marines? Bah! The new kit sucks, all your dudes will look just like everyone else's!

Sorry. I rant.

As I thought, rule of cool trumps all else. But how are you guys building and running them? And as for WYSIWYG, well... I can turn a power fist into an axe. Well for a Nurgle army I can, that's easy! Turn the fist into a ball of snot, jam some axe heads in like a lightning claw. Bubonic Axe Gauntlet. Done.

Why Aye Ya Canny Dakkanaughts!

You could always get the FW DG Terminator upgrade kit and scratch build/kitbash whatever weapons you want.

I could do that too, but now that I've thought about it, I wanna make an axe fist. I just reorganized all my stuff so probably gonna work on that now.

I also kit bashed up a Sorcerer too! I had the old Dark Vengeance chaos Lord, the one with the badass sword, but didn't have a gun a Sorc could use... Chopped up the combi melta off the Termie arm and stuck it on there. Looks hilarious. Then I gave him a bunch of backpack spikes and a banner from the wraithlord kit.

Anyways, I guess as long as it looks like an axe...

The sorcerer had some sculpting done to him years ago as part of The Encrusty warband but somehow he never got finished and I managed to keep him all this time. I did him up finally in Berzerker colours but... He got Nurgled now instead.

The first terminator is the one with the kit bashed axe on a power maul handle. The next is the Termie champ with the axe fist which is just an axe glued onto a shaved down power fist. And finally the reaper autocannon bubotic axe combo.

Thanks! I've always found spikey backpacks really easy to make. Once you have a couple in place you can pretty much just keep adding spikes until it looks like a hedgehog.

I started Death Guard because I love the new models.
The only one I really don't like is the Nurge Daemon Prince - luckily I have always been a fan of the regular one.

There are 22 plague marine model by the way: 7 from the regular box, 7 from Dark Imperium, 3 from ETB, 3 from Plague Brothers, the icon marine and the champion. Even without being able to repose them, it shouldn't be too hard to get some unique builds out of that with your modeling skills
(no sarcasm, those models do look awesome)

Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks do not think that purple makes them harder to see. They do think that camouflage does however, without knowing why.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.

Well I hope you do like them cuz I'll be blogging their progress!

I do like that the PMs have pretty unique looks but.. so limited in their kit.

I'm just gonna get some regular CSMs and nurgle them up.

Are the 7 from the regular box really that hard to mix and match the parts?

I can't say for sure since I don't own any, but looking at the sprues the torsos and legs look suspiciously monopose. I realize PMs have never really been a kit with lots of variety being finecast before now, but...

... I can make my own PMs from CSMs and have each one look completely unique and for much cheaper.

If I wanted to really spend some cash I'd get some mk3 Marines and Nurgle them up. Which I may just do...

I've never gotten confirmation from either side on the matter.

I've recently bought 3 boxes of Plague Marines. Legs and Torso's are all monopose, similar to Dark Imperium where the legs and torso are mostly one piece and the front chest plate glues into position. There are a couple of different chest plates to choose from for some of the marines, don't have it in front of me but from memory only 2 or 3 from the box can have different chest plates the rest are specific to model.

The heads (something like 15 different heads to choose from), backpacks and shoulder pads are exactly the same as a normal SM kit so can be mixed and matched freely. Each of the arms have 'grooves' in them so they slot into their respective torso's (each marine, numbered 1-7, can have 2 or 3 different arm variations but are all fixed.) With careful cutting though with a blade, you can slice the groove off the torso and easily mix and match arms. Some such as the arms holding plasma gun/melta etc are a little bit harder to move as the grooves help them line up - but no harder than a normal SM kit.

There are some parts that need to go together to make it work though, such as the Champions backpack and arm set as they have grooves for the cape to slot into but with some careful kitbashing it can be done. The box is actually really well done, and as a long time Death Guard player of 15 years, conversions and kitbashing is second nature which this kit is fun to build with.

"Courage and Honour. I hear you murmur these words in the mist, in their wake I hear your hearts beat harder with false conviction seeking to convince yourselves that a brave death has meaning.
There is no courage to be found here my nephews, no honour to be had. Your souls will join the trillion others in the mist shrieking uselessly to eternity, weeping for the empire you could not save.

To the unfaithful, I bring holy plagues ripe with enlightenment. To the devout, I bring the blessing of immortality through the kiss of sacred rot.
And to you, new-born sons of Gulliman, to you flesh crafted puppets of a failing Imperium I bring the holiest gift of all.... Silence."

It sounds like the only real reason to whine then is because one didn't like the aesthetic of the models rather than the models themselves being hard to work with then.

Thanks for the analysis. Anyone else want to share thoughts if they actually bought and used the kit?

It's not that different to most of the other infantry sets in production.

IMO the models are all unique and dynamic enough that monopose isn't a detriment. you have a unit or two of the box, a unit of Dark Imperium and they all look different.

Personal taste.

No different to any other faction. Because all the IG armies are wildly different? Because all the Eldar army's have every aspect warrior that looks different to every other made?

If anything, DG have more variety as the models are so well detailed. Yes you will have some duplicates, but it's like that with any other army on the table.

Still rocking the exact same models though. Not really sure why this sudden acceptance of monopose models has cropped up but it's alarming. And are these PMs any cheaper? More expensive you say? For less customizable models?

So I'm just gonna go ahead and make my own Nurgle army from suitable GW minis. You guys can have fun with your official PMs.

The only belittling I've seen thus far is slayerfan123, which... seems pointless considering he hasn't even bought a box of PMs himself. So yeah. I was expressing my disgust with GW and their monopose crap. If you wanna have monopose kits that's fine, don't call me a whiner because I want to build my own army.
