Maybe someone can explain how this is a reality. The contemptor has better stats and at least the same lethality of a ven dread and certainly has better chance of survival. But it is way cheaper. Also as a GK player why can't I get this nice toy? Aren't GK supposed to have the best equipment of all the marine chapters (except custodes)?

Why Aye Ya Canny Dakkanaughts!

I thought the Venerable was 90pts base versus the Contemptor's 103pts base? They also have the exact same stats.

And GK don't necessarily get the equipment that other chapters get because they are more of a elite army rather than one that needs lots of big toys to go to war with.

No it's 2+, but so is the venerable.

Contemptor Dread (full) spd 9 BS/WS 2+/2+ base cost 98 pts

SM Ven Dread spd 6 2+/2+ 90

GK Ven Dread spd 6 2+/2+ 110 (yeah GK dreads get 1 psychic power but it's not worth 20 pts)

The contemptor also has a 5++ save vs the Ven's 6++. The contemptor also is +1 St and +2 Wds all for a mere 8 pts,

I don't know how much I can post without violating rules so that's all I'll print.

It just seems to me that contemptors are under priced compare to their Ven kin.

Both are BS2. Contemptor is +2W +1S +3M. Contemptor has 5++. Venerable has 6+++.

Venerable is 90.
In book Contemptor is 98 and is very option limited. FW contemptor is 106.

Edit: Ah GK book has different prices.

Springfield, VA

Significantly, the Contemptor also has a degrading damage profile while the Venerable Dreadnought is immune.

Scratch everything I said, I've been comparing my hellforged contemptor with a venerable contemptor dreadnought like the idiot I am.
