Enjoyed it - pleased to see the gods being part of the story as well.

I was quasi engaged for the first two episodes and then just bleh. I finished it in the background but I found it very meh and it had issues due to budgetary constraints. I was hoping almost for a tv version of Gemmell's fall of troy story which was excellent. Instead we got a meh retelling of the Illead that again leaves the gods actual actions out of it.

I agree completely. But Troy is a mythical story at this point- you need gods and goddesses! Inscrutable, petty, vicious gods. I would also accept a remake in this style, though I suspect its audience would be small.

Seriously, it's the best concept I've heard since Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.

English doesn't borrow from other languages. It follows them down dark alleyways and mugs them for loose grammar.

I don't see how Achilles can remotely be called a hero, nothing but a selfish thug/merc for hire.

The portray of Paris in this tv show is a lot more sympathetic than the movie; I really don't like the spy character in the city. The amazon cast is totally off, there is no way those thin stick arms can draw a bow or fight hth with a mermydon.

I enjoyed much of it - although several episodes in the middle were slow.

I was impressed that most of the people from the Iliad are actually present and with the right names and they did not shy away from just how horryfiying brutal they were - especially the kings.

eg:
Accepting his fate, Hector begs Achilles, not to spare his life, but to treat his body with respect after killing him. Achilles tells Hector it is hopeless to expect that of him, declaring that "my rage, my fury would drive me now to hack your flesh away and eat you raw – such agonies you have caused me

Achilles was one of the best I thought and had some of the best lines - "When you get to the River Styx, tary a while - i will send your wife and new born son to join you shortly." "Hero's" then do not conform to hollywood versions.

Virgil refers to Achilles as a savage and a merciless butcher of men, while Horace portrays Achilles ruthlessly slaying women and childre
