My friend decided to start w40k with an Orks army. I already have a 1000pts Nurgle Daemons army that works well, so he needs a 1000pts Orks army. I don't know anything about Orks, if they're competitive or not, but if possible, he wants a list that performs well. Thank you!

from my experience with orks throughout the ages, they tend to get beaten up a lot tableside... and nurgle daemons are pretty high tier right now having just received their codex... can you show us your list? do they already own any models?

cheers,

Orks can be competitve, especially in smaller formats like 1000 points. You need to play a bit with them since they're not easy to play like SM.

A list that perform well at 1000 points has typically 80-100 infantries, some artillery and characters.

Something like that:

Warboss, power klaw, bike (99)
Weirdboy (62)
30 boyz, nob with pk (193)
30 boyz, nob with pk (193)
20 stormboyz, nob with pk (173)
3 Kustom mega kannons (126)

Which are 850ish points. Then you can add more KMKs, boyz or stormboyz, kommandos, a second weirdboy or a painboy. At 1000 points those kinds of lists with many infantries and no vehicles are quite competitive.

If your friend already has models give us some input about what he owns, he could start from that models and we may suggest a completely different list than the green tide.
