We'll find out soon enough eh.

Can anyone suggest a similar "antique"/cool toned metallic to Valdor Gold that will work well with a regular brush? Acrylic, preferably, I'm not really interested in faffing about with lacquers and enamels.

Original question:
Spoiler:
Just wondering if anyone has any experience using the FW airbrush paints, metallics in particular, with regular brushes? When I'm not using washes I get a lot of mileage out of the Vallejo Air ranges with brushes, but considering the price I don't want to buy the FW ones blind and then find they're rubbish with a brush like (IMO, obviously) the Badger ones.

I much prefer the antique/cool gold style of the FW Custodes, but I don't have anything of a similar tone to Valdor Gold.

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.

I use the Vallejo airbrush metallic paints with a normal brush all the time, and really, prefer them to any other type of metallic paint. I don't know how the FW paints compare but in my experience pretty much anything branded for miniature airbrushing works fine with a brush.

Some work good, others not so. From Metallics range, Iron Hands steel and Castellax bronze are just perfect. Valdor Gold, Thallax Gold, Grey Knights Steel - not so much.

Other paints are very decent. Tried Word Bearers Red, Corvus Black and Phalanx Yellow. All worked well.

Clear paints, I just would not recommend using with paint brush - takes too much time and I doubt the effect would be that good.

Hmm. Then I'll change tack and edit the OP, thanks.

Same here.
The newer vallejo metal color range is even better than standard air range. There is only one gold color in that range, it's a very cold and dull one. The air range has more choice when it comes to colors.

Sorry, I lied That's after one coat on black primer, straight out of the pot. Agitators really help.

You could always check out our metallic range, we're always adding more to it so it's worth keeping an eye on the store, here or the news and rumors thread to see when we release new ones.

Our most recent addition is an Antique Bronze, it's already thinned down too so there's less time needed to thin it and more time painting
