I have entered the london GT in May and have compiled this list for it. It will be my first tournament at 2000 points so any input will be much appreciated. As well as leaving tips for improvement could you also say how well you think it will do?

Great to see the London GT is bringing more people onto the competitive scene. I’m going myself, no idea what I’ll be bringing, I haven’t even read te rulespack yet, all I know is that ETC missions will be in use which is what I always play. Guard and custodes is a nice combo.

Some pointers:
Change the stormlord for a shadowsword
Change the custodian to a supreme command full of shield captains on bikes, one on the relic bike
You could probs take a brigade for the guard element, take 3 company commanders, one with Kurov’s Aquila and grand strategist warlord trait, 3 astropaths, 6 basic guardsmen squads (dependant on points you could give them plasma guns and/or lascannon teams), take 3 scout sentinels for te fast attack, and then 3 x 3 mortar squads.

Will look something like:
Company commander, kurovs aquila + grand strategist

6 x 10 guardsmen

Thanks a lot for the input, while i wont be able to change the list completely due to financial and painting constraints, e.g, the superheavy must be a stormlord, I could definitely make some changes. Out of those that you have suggested, which do you feel are most important?

Ah ok. 40k is my main hobby, so I don’t really stick to a budget, even though I really should. All of my other hobbies I easily stick to a budget, just not 40k.

Going from a budget perspective and what to aim for:
- stick with the stormlord definitely
- definitely replace the custodes element with the shield captains on bikes (you can convert 3 up from one box set, or just build 3 up and say they’re captains no one will notice or care)
- Try for the brigade of you can, if you’re struggling for units in terms of painting then consider swapping 2 units of guardsmen for 5 man scion squads.

I don’t know what models you have access to, what your financial budget is, and how much time you can put into the army between now and the end of May. So the suggestions of the most important changes are my pointers.

Make the stormlord Tallarn as it cant benefit from a regiment bonus anyway due to it being in a super heavy auxiliary detachment, but it can still benefit from the stratagem if you need to hide it, as a Tallarn stormlord can carry Cadian troops and yes that might be cheesy but it is legal in just about every event ive seen

I _Hate_ Custodes on Bikes. I hate everything about them.

This is exactly why all the above posters are right. You should take 3. They're horribly gamey, cheesy, and will improve your chances of winning significantly.
Attempting to shove in a Guard Brigade for maxium command point abuse is perfectly sensible. Outflanking/Deep striking plasma duty is a good use for them. Mortar team spam helps clear out screens for your bikes.
