The plastics are great. But I am considering getting the upgrades for a Sons of Horus. But I don't like that this would cover the chests so I want guys with chainswords and bolt pistols. However Iam loathe to buy the resin despoilers if Iam throwing half the model away to use the upgrades. Is there any work around for this?

5 sets of assault arms in the Forge World MKIV power weapons set. Only 2 chainswords in the set, however. It depends if you have spare chainswords/bolt pistols kicking around.

For my MarkIII and IV I think I finally settled on chopping up the bolter arms and breaking out the green stuff for the armour joints. It's going to take some time, but it's cheaper than FW and will look better than recasting the few assault arms that came with the kits.

I settled for simply getting arms from various kits. Look difference between MKIV and MKVII arms isn't big enough for me to worry about it.

Addendum: If you are worried about it major difference is that the Mk.IV vambrace has a bit that protrudes forward to cover the joint where the Mk.VII doesn't, but that's actually not too hard to patch over with greenstuff.

Well that's not something that jumps. Actually during weekend I looked over my bolter&ccw squad and regular bolter squad and couldn't spot the difference. So close enough for me. Close enough to not start mess with greenstuff that would likely with my skills just degrade the look!

Honestly the arms from Chaos Marine sets, Assault marine sets, Vanguards, ETC work just fine IMO. The difference in arms between MK7 and MK 4 is barely noticeable.

How many assault arms do you get in a chaos marine squad? I can't remember if they had enough to equip the entire squad with bolt pistol and chainsword?

Looking at pics of the sprue on google it looks like they do. That's great that. Plus if I wanted I could actualy give them all the Chaos back pack since that is a legit piece of equipment they have in the artwork.

Not sure on the amount. But You get a decent amount, plus the new Space Marine assault squad is a gold mine.

With the assault box you can get 6 pairs I think? Plus arms for flamers or melta guns.

Wondering Why the Emperor Left

If the arms are your only problem and you have the chainswords/ bolt pistols, I suggest just using the basic bolter arms. All you need to do is separate the arm just below the shoulder-pad, rotate it, and glue it back into place. The other arm (the one cradling the bolter) is trickier. You'll need to cut away the hand, cut the vambrace just below the elbow-pad, rotate the vambrace without rotating the joint, and glue it back into place.
